DU is making me really, really upset lately. All this anti-Bush, anti-war chatter interferes with my holiday spirit and takes the fun out of my festive planning. Shouldn`t we leave the war discussions to the experts and get on with the patriotism of Christmas shopping? See....Bush`s tax cuts gave us more money which gave us more buying power which makes us buy things which leads to a robust economy which Republicans are rightfully noted for. So, when you all bash Mr. Bush, it`s almost like biting the hand that feeds you. Without these wartime tax cuts, our children and grandchildren wouldn`t even know what a California Tan Barbie or a Grand Theft Auto game is and a big slice of our culture would be wiped out of their youthful Christmas dreams.
Of course President Bush has to take his time deciding on his New Way Forward in Iraq Plan. Rome wasn`t built in a day and neither was Baghdad. Since no civil war means no rush, the least we can do is support Bush`s holiday down time with Laura and Barney. Sometimes it`s good for Deciders to get extra rest. Remember, all of out troops are in Iraq because they believe in their mission and in their Commander in Chief, so there`s no big crisis to worry about. War is just part of who we are. Just open a history book and see how many pages show things blown up and burning. Iraq is simply the next chapter, maybe the one before Iran.
My advice is to stay away from any war news. There`s plenty of other stuff on tv to occupy your time until the president gets ready to decide his next step. You can watch small airplanes circling with faulty landing gear, you can get updates on recent DUI arrests in Hollywood, you can get more information on Princess Diana`s last moments or even learn about new gadgets like the robot that mops your floor while you`re calling the 800-number for the September 11th coin...the one with the only-five-to-a-family limit.
Even though President Bush could be at some fancy buffet, he`s out gathering information....making a list and checking it twice. I saw the photos myself. That`s when I knew I had nothing to worry about. When President Bush finally speaks to the nation, he might have to change "victory" to "success" but however it`s spelled....we`ll be winners.

1. Uh, I think it's spelled "vicktory" |

But I agree with everything else in your post. Bush is listening. LISTENING, people! Even though he is eating a fist-sized shrimp that we paid for, he is making up he mind, these things don't happen overnight.
Also.
Crawford has all the modern conveniences, do you think a President is ever, EVER out of touch? So when he goes down there for 11 days or something for the holiday it will be a WORKING vacation!!!!11 He will tell us what he has in mind for Iraq whwen the time comes and he has decided that is AFTER. AFTER New Year's.
Good post, democrank.

3. Although the Chimpy is 'listening', it still won't soak through his thick head and he'll |
|
still be 'staying the course' come January.....unless, unless Santa gets confused and whisks him up the chimney and drops into the middle of Baghdad.

4. No, no, no. It's the War on Chrismas we're all worked up over. Not |
|
the Insurgency in Iraq / War on Terror.
We all care about mall shopping, but's it's threatened by the home-terrorists' War on Christmas.
