Except, of course, the folks who were fired for daring to criticize the fiasco. In fact, Rummy's still there, running things until Gates is seated. The entire posture Bush is using to stare down the American voters and the ISG is the product of the same administration cabal who sent our soldiers to Iraq, and hold them there; and they still have their jobs.
All of the folks underneath the defense chief are still in place. His #2, Negroponte's man, Cambone is still in place. All of the generals who are supposedly deciding the course of the occupation by default - the same ones who've been directing the disaster - are still operating "on the ground."
All of the same players are in place at the State Dept. under Condi. Nothing has been changed in the administration with regard to their Iraq policy. Despite the pending arrival of Gates on the scene, Bush has not taken it on himself to replace anyone else responsible for the quagmire. He's digging in, and has no intention of policing the ones who've been formulating and carrying out his own failed foreign policy.
He looks to be trying to pile on as much of the old Iraq 'strategy' as he can before someone - Gates, Congress - forces a change in course.
