So what's up with Bush announcing his "new" Iraq policy in January?

Personally, I think he's going for another one of those Great Moments in Irony. His "new plan" will just be a new slogan for the old plan, but he will also announce it the day after the new Congress in sworn in, cynically using it just to change the subject away from the Republican defeat. So it'll be a double dose of "business as usual".

What do you folks think? Any ideas as to why it's being put off?

1. I hope he's just postponing the inevitable of an Iraqi withdrawal,

but would not be surprised if he continues to 'stay the course' in whatever wording he might use. If that happens, someone needs to take over the reins because he'd clearly not be representing the majority of Americans.

2. It's a matter of priorities ...

Christmas parties to attend, shopping to do, people to kill, carols to sing.

Possible new slogan to be released in January '07? I'm torn between two:

"Staying the course on moving forward."

"Leave no living Iraqi child behind."

3. Nothing more than state of the union stuff

Looking for the most "presidential" pose in the midst of a cheap, useless, mindless presidency. Translation? Bush continues to listen to Rove. He made his choice America. Make yours. 51 Americans dead in December.

4. It will be like dealing with the Aug. 6 memo on Sept. 12.

He'll leave it in his god's hands.

5. For the sake of the SOTUS he must make the

announcement as late as possible. Otherwise, he racks up a lot more deaths that are attributable to his "new" policy and has to move to part II of the speech. The part about the domestic situation. And with a tanking dollar, worst job situation in Michigan since the depression, no progress on SS or immigration--well, there won't be enough for even the MSM to get a half hour program.
