Has Anybody Seen The Current Issue Of Vanity Fair?
They have an artist's rendering of a Mount Rushmore of presidential "losers" with George Bush, Richard Nixon, and Herbert Hoover on it...

2. Great Articles Too..
One on the regrets of the neocons...

One of Katie Couric's travails

One on the family portrayed in Running With Scissors who are suing Augustan Burroughs because they were defamed in "Running With Scissors"....

7. I saw that too
The neocons who spent years begging the president for Saddam's overthrow, the very same ones who predicted it would be a cakewalk and the US would be greeted with flowers and candy...well it turns out, in spite of what a resonable person might conclude --their ideas weren't really wrong after all. See, their ideas were great and their plan, brilliant. And that plan could have worked just as they predicted if only it hadn't been left in the hands of the Bush admin. Bushco took a perfectly nice little war, which for a time was just as cute and fun as a Mountain Dew commercial -- and managed to rob it of all it's splendor and excitement and turn it into a much less desirable war, one that is even more pointless and harder to watch than the last couple seasons of Happy Days.

With this bunch it's always someone else's fault.

8. That's what scares me about those weasels. They don't see anything
wrong - ANYTHING AT ALL wrong - with their policy. It's the execution that was bad, incompetent, blew chunks. Which leads me to believe that not only have they not learned anything, or repented their stupidity, they're very likely to hunker down and wait until another favorable regime takes over in the White House. They're gonna bide their time and try again - and, they hope, do it "right" next time. They're not going to cut and run. They'll just "redeploy."

BASTARDS. Talk about an urgent need to drain the swamp...

3. The thing is, Nixon could've been one of the great presidents
Edited on Tue Dec-12-06 10:35 PM by brentspeak
He was by far the most liberal (or rather, progressive in the TR sense) president on both economic and social issues that we've had in the past four decades. But he was apparently crazy/paranoid, self-destructive, and had a predilection for pointless dirty tricks.

12. He did save us from the British invasion of 1812
When they burned the White House and we invading up the Mississippi River.
Recently read a book about that war and we very very nearly lost to the British. Jackson and the pirate Jean Lafitte saved New Orleans from the British invasion. Had they won, they would have taken the river and solidified their hold on the continent.

But yes, he was an asshole. I don't think his incompetence as president comes near Bush, though.

10. That's only three, the real Mt. Rushmore is a quartet, isn't it?
So Loser Rushmore still has room for Reagan on it. Or was Reagan too good of a conman to be lumpd with that crew? After all, do you know of a bigger piece of shit who still somehow ends up smelling like a rose?

11. Without Getting Into A Reagan Debate
Nixon, Bu$h, and Hoover are widely believed to have had "failed presidencies"...
