URGENT:SOTU education=demise of education: my experience with it...
As President Bush mentioned in his SOTU, the plan was to put men and women with experience in using Math and Science in the higher courses, to promote excellence within our nation, and be a world leader in industry, economics, etc.

THE MAJOR FLAW: They are hiring people straight out of the factories into these teaching positions. They have not been taught how to instruct students. These teachers do understand the concepts of Math or Science, but cannot demonstrate properly how to solve a given problem.

Take it from a student-as well as my colleagues, known and unknown to me- who's fate was nearly or fully decided by the new program; it is a serious setback to many years of an already struggling system.
THIS ACT MUST BE REVERSED.

Perhaps they thought that by hiring former factory employees, the new teachers would be able to instruct based on their experiences on-the-job...that would explain why College Preparatory students wind up with the same jobs as Technical Preparatory students.

Nevertheless, don't forget that a teacher that knows how to solve the problems, but cannot necessarily instruct the class, is as good as a class without a teacher.

"Math+Science=Success" MY @55!
