Intel Chairman- Rep. Sylvester Reyes- Yikes! |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 09:27 AM by Roxy66
I saw him on C-Span's "Washington Journal" last week and I was very unimpressed by him then. This Congressional Quarterly interview about the difference between Shiite and Sunni (sp) is scary, considering he is considered the best choice for the Chair and the fact that he is supposed to have extensive experience in the field of Intel....I'm not impressed and I hope he steps down. Dem or not, I wont cheer-lead for someone who does not seem qualified for one of the most important positions in American Government.

4. Did you see him on Washigton Journal last week? |
|
I did- and he came off as a very nice man, but did not seem real engaged or focused, if you will.

3. He is truely representative of most people in the US - I hope |
|
that this was a wake up call for him and he works diligently to allieviate his ignorance. I know some highly intellegent people who can't grasp the difference between Shia and Sunni much less who belongs to what. But once it is explained to them they get it.
If Reyes does not wake up - then can him.

in addition to 4 years of an intense "War on Terror" ....it just seems hypocritical.

7. So what other ignorant politician do you want to chair this |
|
committee? And don't rob him/her from the chair of another committee.

5. I saw a clip this morning and it reminded me of a Stephen Colbert interview with |
|
unsuspecting Reps. I found it both disturbing and painful. Why can't Pelosi find the best qualified person for this incredibly important position.

8. I too was quite unimpressed with Reyes, so this AM I checked to see who |
|
the others were on the Intel Comm. when the Dems werethe minority.
Jane Harmon Alcee Hastings Sylvester Reyes Leonard Boswell Robert "Bud"Cramer Anna Eshoo Rush Holt Dutch Ruppersburger John Tierney
So now I see what Nancy did. She had a problem with Jane, and everyone else had a problem with Alcee, so she went to the next oe on the list. I actually feel a little better about her choice now that I see that. There was a method, and not simply pacifying a particular group.
Having said that, look at the list. i personally would have chosen Jane because I think she's smart, knowledgable, and well spoken, but it wasn't my choice. I don't see any other names on that list that impress me! I am assuming the members are listed in the order of their time served on this committee, and the lower you go on the list, the less experience you get.
So with this info, just who would YOU have chosen?

Look at your list, Reyes is supposed to have the 3rd most experience on the Intel Comm.

11. Oh well, the right will |
|
get a big kick out of this and will use it for political purposes, but one way to counter this would be to inform the right, it was you all that said bushit did not have to be the smartest man in the room to be president, because he had the grownups around him. Well, we see what happens when someone of average intelligence and not versed in world affairs tries to BE THE SMARTEST IN THE ROOM...ONE BIG CLUSTER F**K....

12. Well, hopefully he takes this as a lesson |
|
Now he sees that he's going to get reamed for looking like an idiot, maybe that will be enough motivation to have all the facts on hand and the most basic information on current intel memorized. That's his job now.
