BRAD BLOG: PHOTO OF SHEEHAN'S SHIRT AT ARREST
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 02:27 AM by BradBlog
Cindy Sheehan Arrested, Removed Before SOTU Speech...
For Wearing a T-Shirt, As Reported by BRAD BLOG (Even as CNN and AP Got it Wrong)

Complete Exclusive Coverage of Sheehan's Arrest As the Night Unfolded...

NOW INCLUDING PHOTO OF SHIRT: http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002355.htm

Moments after the photo was taken, and Sheehan was hustled out and "roughed up," Bush said (without a hint of irony):

"Every step toward freedom in the world makes our country safer -- so we will act boldly in freedom's cause. Far from being a hopeless dream, the advance of freedom is the great story of our time.

No one can deny the success of freedom, but some men rage and fight against it.
...
We love our freedom, and we will fight to keep it."

So will we, Mr. "President"...

3. Thanks, Brad. Been following your blog all night!
Bernie Ward out here in SF/KGO is GOING OFF in riotous anger re: Cindy's arrest. It's shameful.

Little Lord Pissypants made a BAD MOVE, eh?

Peace.

12. fooj,
Little Lord Pissypants has made LOTS of wrong moves, and yet the populace sleeps and nothing changes. We get angrier but still have no way to release.

By the way, I love your name for him - I usually call him the boy king, but Little Lord Pissypants is so apropos!

US Code Title 40, Chapter 2, Section 193f
(3)to enter or to remain in any room within any of the Capitol Buildings set aside or designated for the use of either House of the Congress or any Member, committee, subcommittee, officer, or employee of the Congress or either House thereof with intent to disrupt the orderly conduct of official business;
(7) to parade, demonstrate, or picket within any of the Capitol Buildings.

She showed NO "INTENT to disrupt" and she DID NOT "parade, demonstrate, or picket"!!

This was nothing but Police State tactics ... fear-based, not "reasonable" whatsoever!

17. the shirt is effectively a picket sign, though.
I was there last night at the protest that ended up going to get Cindy. When I see the law though, it's understandable that she would get arrested. Granted, its a stupid law. Good for her for violating it.

18. What if the t-shirt merely showed a picture of Casey and the dates ...
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 12:22 PM by TahitiNut
... of his birth and death? Is there a legal difference between memorializing all the troops who've died in Iraq and one of them? What's the legal difference between Bush* 'honoring' the invasion/occupation dead and Cindy quietly wearing a t-shirt that does so? Should they have arrested Bush* for saying, in effect, the exact same thing Cindy's t-shirt said??

I'm diligently adhering to the absolute facts, not some hyperbolic interpetation of intent or any bias whatsoever regarding Cindy, even though I admire and support her. On the plain facts, she said absolutely nothing differently in wearing that t-shirt than the Fecal Fuhrer said in his 'speech.' How in the hell can that be regarded by any rational person as disruptive??

20. The law states that demonstrating in the gallery is forbidden.
Her presence with that t-shirt constitutes a demonstration.

23. I believe (IANAL) the courts have ruled that's NOT the case.
What's next? Wearing clothing with "Made in the U.S.A." or "Union Made" labels is a 'demonstration'? What about a t-shirt that merely has the American flag on it? How about an Arab wearing a Palestinian head-covering? A woman wearing a burka? There is NOTHING inherently disruptive or demonstrative (beyond the ordinary 'dress to impress' practice) about her t-shirt.

24. If you say so.
Like I said, if the law forbids it, it's a stupid law that deserves to be broken. So I agree with you in principle.

19. So any shirt with words on it is banned?
Or just words with objectionable political content?

If they banned Nike logos you might have a point.

5. Checked out BradBlog to see the photo. His coverage of Cindy's arrest
was quite good. I WAS a little....taken aback when I first arrived at the blog and the Upper Most ad banner was for the
Wall Street Journal --- ah, that liberal rag......

8. What was unclear about what I said? Why such vitriole?
I'm just saying I went to Brad's blog to see that picture of Cindy and the first thing that caught my eye was a BIG ad for the Wall Street Journal at the top of the page.

10. Now it's a DELTA Airlines ad. But I Swear, around 10 minutes ago
it was a Wall Street Journal Ad. I recognize the contradictions of surviving as a Blog may mean generating income from ads....I just think it's reasonable to question Which companies our Liberal/Progressive Blogsters are choosing to work with.

As for your corrections of my misspellings -- I'm glad that you've shown that one of us is intelligent here.

Without their help, I could have gone around all day thinking it was only a t-shirt. But PRAISE JEBUS, with the help of the corporate media, I can see the banner.
