So we won another House seat last night!!
I just heard about Ciro Rodriquez winning over a GOP incumbent in a special election in Texas! The Latino vote is turning away from the GOP after flirting with Bush in '00 and '04 over the GOP's hard line on immigration. This is good news for '08.

2. The planned wall
and the racist remarks going around didn't help the GOP in this district.

3. This was quite an upset here in Texas
Henry Bonilla (the Republican)and seven term incumbent, won in 2004 with around 70% of the vote. He got 49% of the vote in the first election Nov. 7th, against 7 Democrats, and Ciro Rodriguez (the leading Democrat) only got around 27%. In the runoff yesterday, Rodriguez got 55% to Bonilla's 45%. Bonilla actually got 4% less of the vote than he did in the first round. I've never seen this done before by any candidate. The political winds are really shifting these days, I thought Bonilla as sure to win. This makes for a 30 seat pickup for the Dems in the House now.
