Another Katrina victim's body found. Merry Christmas, Mr. Bush!
Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 05:04 PM by Bluebear
Don't worry though, "W", it's only the Lower Ninth Ward.

A body thought to be that of a hurricane ictim was found by workers demolishing damaged houses in the Katrina-devastated Lower 9th Ward, the Orleans Parish coroner's office said. The body is thought to be that of an adult, but the gender and identity are unknown.

The body was found Wednesday night in a yard at St. Maurice Avenue and North Robertson Street, chief coroner's investigator John Gagliano said. He said the body will be examined by a pathologist and an anthropologist, and the coroner's office will consult records to see whether anyone was reported missing at that location.

Gagliano also said coroner's officials found houses in thatneighborhood that did not appear ever to have been entered since the storm flooded the neighborhood.

4. Another reason why Repubs lost big-time in 2006.
Iraq is nothing compared to Katrina and other domestic issues.

5. SO I guess some human capital is worth more.
Bush just done pissed away all the 'capital' at his disposal...all out of stupidity and ignorance. I still can't believe the way NOLA got treated by the Feds.

Shameful doesn't even come close to describing how NOLA was handled.

6. 15 months that man has been laying there
15 months his family has been searching for him.

All this while someone was receiving a paycheck for doing a job they never did, recover the ALL the victims of hurricane Katrina.

7. Thats How They Found Two Of My Relatives in NOLA

Actually it was my cousins son who found his moms advanced decayed body up in the attic then just about two months ago they found my cousins 4 year old grandson entwined in some bushes...the only thing that ID him was a medi-alert neck chain around the neck of his decayed body.In both these situations they were in the process of beginning demolitions.....I must stop typing or I will be needing a new keyboard.....

Just remember this when you hear the Slogan Compassionate Conservatism......bush is an asshole.

15. There are no words for the fury
that your suffering (and that of the other bereft families) evokes in me. Until the perpetrators of the obscenity that is "disaster relief" for the victims of Katrina are brought to terms, they should not have a moment's peace.

16. So sorry
I can honestly say I am more traumitized by Katrina than anything, maybe its I am getting old and forgetting, I don't know. But I do know one thing it is criminal the way our fellow Americans were treated in the aftermath of Katrina, still to today nothing done to correct it either.

18. Oh gosh, I'm so sorry
Such a sad and horrific thing for your family to endure. It tears my heart out that our country hasn't done what they should for those both alive and deceased in the areas devastated by Katrina.

9. more than anything Katrina will be emblematic of the Bush Administration
So much mean-spirited negligence, ignorance and inaction crammed into what, 10 days? (of course it went on much longer than that, but the first 10 days were perhaps the worst.)
so many lives lost that didn't have to be lost.
So many people stripped of all dignity.
contrast this with a smiling Bush strumming a guitar.
Contrast this with Condoleeza Rice shopping for shoes til she drops.
Bangladesh responds to hurricane-force storms better than we do.
Once again I want to weep.

11. I hope pelosi investigates Katrina properly, this was swept under the rug too quickly
no accountability, they lay it on Brownie and snub their noses to the world.

Kanye West's comment about Bush not caring about poor black people nailed it!!

this country has ever had then I don't know who it would be. Not even Buchanan, imo.

The coroner's office has arranged to have volunteers from several city agencies search areas that have not been entered since Katrina, Gagliano said. The St. Tammany Parish search and rescue squad also will assist.

Coroner Frank Minyard told the City Council last month that the Michoud area of eastern New Orleans had never been searched for bodies since Katrina and should be investigated as soon as possible.

Ouch. Michoud is miles from the Lower Ninth Ward. How can there possibly be areas that have not been entered yet, a year and three months later?! :grr: :banghead:

edit: Double ouch. N. Robertson St., where this body was found, is about in the middle of the Lower Ninth Ward, right about where the worst flooding began to abate. Perhaps the body washed up there?

19. Alot of us knew this was going to happen.
Many of us DUers were and still are extremely upset that bodies weren't being searched for! After Katrina, when someone here on DU posted photos of dead bodies just lying around the city, it ticked some people off. But it was brutal honesty aka THE TRUTH! That the Katrina victims have been treated so disrespectfully in life and in death is flat out criminal! :grr:
