Tweety was brilliant tonight in handling Ed Rogers.
Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 07:42 PM by Atman
They started off with Rogers referring to Barrack Obama by his full name, Barrack HUSSEIN Obama. Tweety immediately jumped on him, demanding an explanation. "In America, we only use middle names when referring to assassins, like John Wayne Gacy...why did you use his middle name?" Rogers got a Cheshire Cat-sized grin on his face, and Tweety hammered him. "You're trying to create a connection between Saddam Hussein..." Rogers smirked some more and claimed he was just being polite, using his full name.

The segment went on. Rogers is a total asshole. But the best part was at the end of the segment. In saying goodbye, Tweety asked Rogers for his middle name. He wouldn't give it. "Uh...that's not important...uh..." Tweety wouldn't relent. It was okay for Obama, just tell us your middle name! "It's French," said Rogers. Tweety kept on him, eventually getting him to admit his middle name is Maurice. So Tweety signed of by thanking Jenny Backus and Ed Maurice Rogers.

It was brilliant. Too bad Tweety is just a ratings whore.

2. Don't you mean "Maurice"?
Also, Jenny Backus, when she could get a word in edgewise, was tough. I'm liking her the more I see and hear her.

16. Once she muscles in, she's okay, but she led rogers butt in all over
the map. You DO NOT DO THAT in ANY debate with some smart-ass republi-CON. THAT'S when you throw Emily Post and Miss Manners out the window and get rude. You butt in, you outshout them, you interrupt, step on 'em, talk over 'em, and do EVERYTHING short of calling in a demolition derby with strippers on rollerskates to get the last word. She let him run all over the place - so he was all you heard. Whether it was his "turn" or not. She needs to start taking her vitamins.

I kept waiting for Tweety to take that smarmy little poindexter on with the "Democrat Party" crap he kept spewing. At least Matthews kept referring to "Democratic Party" at every opportunity, rather than absent-mindedly falling into it. rogers is trying to "catapult the propaganda," repeating-repeating-repeating until it becomes common usage. At that point, he and the other bad guys have won. At least Matthews took him to task about the Barack HUSSEIN Obama manipulation, and gave him a hard time. And the "answers" he gave were textbook pathetic.

15. Remember Toni Tenille explaining "Muskrat Love" to Queen Elizabeth?
When Liz was here in '76 and The Captain and Tenille were the entertainment and TT explained which instruments were depicting the sound of the muskrats "making love." To QEII, of all people.

Liz earned her salary that day.

THEN she danced with Gerald Ford to the tune of "The Lady is A Tramp." NO KIDDING.

13. When he's that good, he gets called by his given name in my book
He's only Tweety when he's being an asshat.

Or Sybil.

It's one of his better personalities on tonight, it seems.

Well done, Mr. Matthews. And welcome back. Glad you're feeling better.

23. You left out one little tidbit
Rogers responded by saying, "well, my middle name is FRENCH." It had to be hard for him to admit that when you consider how much the rightwing HATES the French. LOLOL

25. Sorry but equating tweety and brilliancy is a bit much. He was just doing his job...
which in this day in age is so rare it's looked upon as being brilliant.

I weep for our nation.

26. Actually, in this case, I think the way he framed it was pretty sharp
He pointed out the hypocrisy and put Rogers in his place at the same time. I think he handled it surprisingly well, for Tweets. Although you do bring up a good point...they've lowered the bar so much, just asking ANY questions often seems "brilliant" these days.
