Apartment Manager Says Buildings Were Being Damaged

POSTED: 4:32 pm EST December 13, 2006
UPDATED: 4:53 pm EST December 13, 2006

ORANGE CITY, Fla. -- Apartment managers at a complex in Volusia County had a change of heart Wednesday, reversing a ban on residents hanging Christmas decorations.

Several weeks ago, residents at Greenleaf Gardens Apartments in Orange City began receiving letters from apartment managers, ordering them to take down all outside Christmas decorations or face possible eviction.

Apartment managers claimed that the nails and staples used to hang lights, wreaths, bows and other decorations were damaging the buildings.

But residents who only wrapped lights on bushes and shrubs said they were also told to remove the decorations or face the consequences.

Apartment residents banded together, according to Local 6 News, and launched a petititon drive.

The war on christmas is starting to go like the one in Iraq. We need to get more funding to project X and Z!
