Poll question: Question for anti-illegal-immigration people and immigrants' rights people: Are you willing to band |
|
together with eachother to fight "cheap labor" conservatism by going after employers that hire and exploit people that are here illegally? There seems to be disagreement over things like amnesty, but I think people in both of these groups would agree that the employers who are exploiting the situation for profit need to be stopped and punished. When I hear immigration debated between these groups, I hear an anti-right-wing message coming from both of them. Immigrants' rights people see a group of people being targeted and villified and want to stand up for them. Anti-illegal-immigration people see illegal immigration as a threat to lower-income American workers, much like outsourcing. If both of these groups banded together against corporate greed, things could get a whole lot better for both American workers and immigrants!
A lot of us, myself included, consider ourselves both anti-illegal-immigration AND a supporter of immigrants' rights. In my opinion, they are not mutually exclusive!

There's no way we'll ever stop illegal immigration until we go after those who look to maximize profits by employing them

A fascist's wet dream. :puke:
That's why the amnesty program 20 years ago didn't work. After all, citizens get "uppity." right? Well, "there's more where 'they' came from!" (Exploiter's motto.)
