Lamar Hunt died, another link to President Kennedy's murder gone
HL Hunt, Lamar's father, was one of the funders of the expensive plot to kill President Kenendy. At least two of his sons, Nelson and Lamar, were accessories during the fact. Nelson, and possibly Lamar, funded the venomous "Wanted for Treason" flyers and newspaper ad that confronted the President when he arrived in Dallas. The Hunts were big financial backers of Johnson... They are all right wing nut jobs.

Lamar Hunt, gone but not forgotten...

2. Did you mean to post this in LBN?
There are fairly strict guidelines for posting in LBN... this is an interesting topic, but doesn't qualify for this forum the way it's been posted/presented.

3. Yes I meant to, but it got moved. Don't much care.
Have no idea why this wouldn't qualify for LBN, but the more important point is the role of Hunt in President Kennedy's murder. Let's keep our eye on the ball.

4. Note that these right-wing nut jobs were big supporters of LBJ
It doesn't surprise me that the Hunts, all right-wingnuts, were big supporters of LBJ, nor that their names were associated with the Kennedy murder. Both those facts merely strengthen my long-held opinion that LBJ was not the good man that Bill Moyers and so many other Democrats mistakenly continue to insist that he was. On the contrary, he has always seemed to me to be a sociopathic megalomaniac who would do anything -- including murder -- to attain and hold power.

IMHO, good politicians -- at least good Democrats -- are never supported by fascists of the Hunts' ilk. Those people are the philosophical enemies of any real populist. Anybody they support is not to be trusted.

5. That was so well said Rageneau, Johnson was filthy dirty
And his backers reflected that. HL Hunt, Brown and Root (Halliburton)...

6. The preceding posts regarding LBJ's backing by
RW nut jobs is quite an education. I remember nothing about LBJ, as I was a small child throughout his presidency.

All I really know about LBJ is that the history books tell us that he, as President of the United States, used the Arkansas National Guard to desegregate public schools in Little Rock, Arkansas. That took stones!

7. Ask any old timers about Box 13...
They'll tell you just how crooked LBJ was. My mom couldn't stand the guy, and let loose vitriol any chance she got.

Or how about all the mess with Billy Sol Estes?

I'm a youngin compared to the folks that were in the know back then, but they filled me in after the fact.

21.  It was Eisenhower, 1957:
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 11:57 AM by WinkyDink
U.S. Congressman Brooks Hays and Little Rock Mayor Woodrow Mann asked the federal government for help, first in the form of U.S. marshals. Finally, on September 24, Mann sent a telegram to President Eisenhower requesting troops. They were dispatched that day and the President also federalized the entire Arkansas National Guard, taking it away from the Governor.

On September 25, 1957, the nine black students entered the school under the protection of 1,000 members of the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army.

10. The Story of LBJ's "Son I Never Had" and JFK's Advance Man
I have told this story many times because it is one of the most convincing pieces of evidence I've ever read on the extent of the JFK murder conspiracy. It comes from Jerry Bruno's 1971 book "Advance Man" written with Jeff Greenfield.

The Dallas trip was intended to help heal the Democratic party rift between the conservative wing, led by LBJ's protege and "son I never had," Texas governor John Connally, and the liberal wing led by Senator Ralph Yarborough.

Bruno recounts the long standing dispute over where JFK would give his Dallas speech. Connally, personally overseeing the trip for Texas, had long insisted upon the Trade Mart, along the Stemons freeway, reached by turning onto Elm to get to the onramp, where the audience would be primarily business leaders. JFK's team, under Yarborough's guidance, insisted upon the Women's Hall, a union hall which held a much larger audience, reached by continuing directly down Main Street. This dispute had been resolved at the WH, some say by JFK himself, before Bruno left for Dallas to arrange the trip. Bruno was the WH man on the scene and had to approve all arrangements for the visit.

On the 19th or 20th, Connally sent for Bruno, asking him to come to his office in the governor's mansion. Bruno arrived and was ushered in. Connally again made his pitch, citing some new pretense. Bruno refused to change the venue, noting the WH's insistence. Bruno describes how he sat in the chair in front of the governor's desk as Connally tells him he will personally clear the Trade Mart venue with the White House then and there. He picked up the phone, dialed, and had an apparently detailed conversation with somebody at the other end. He even waited as the person "checks" with some higher authority. After a few minutes, the conversation continued. Connally thanked the person, hung up, and announced to Bruno that the deal was done, and JFK now approved of the Trade Mart site. Thus the route is now to be changed, taking the motorcade directly under the Texas School Book Depository building, around the hairpin turn, and down Elm at 12 mph instead of down Main, another hundred yards away from the TSBD, at the mandatory minimum Presidential motorcade speed of 35 mph.

After the assassination, Bruno was intrigued about who gave the authority to change the route. He could find nobody at the WH who took Connally's call or approved the change. Finally he had the WH phone records checked and found there was no evidence of any such call ever being received.

Bruno was called to testify before the HSCA in 1978 at the insistence of David Lifton, a JFK researcher. His testimony was held in secret, was sealed, and currently remains locked up, I believe, until 2028, according to Lifton's 1996 testimony before the Assassination Records and Review Board at: http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/arrb/index38.htm .

In a just world, Bruno's first person testimony would constitute indictable evidence against Connally, a point man, imo, in the conspiracy.

11. Oh, for cryi, read "Case Closed"
Gerald Posner pokes giant holes in every conspiracy theory, and proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Oswald did it, acting alone. There was no Kennedy conspiracy.

In other news, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, international Jewry does not foment war to benefit shadowy financiers, and a commercial air liner hit the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001.

The conspiracy theories are rife with holes, lies and wish-lists. And, as always, condescension, as shown by Philosoraptor and H2Oman.

18. the news in Kansas City
All morning they've been making Hunt look warm and fuzzy, giving fun facts about his life and making it sound like a Great Man has passed away.

I wouldn't go so far as to link his family directly to the killing of Kennedy, although I know a lot has been written about this. The fact that he very likely WAS involved in the "Wanted for Treason" ad makes me ill. His extremism is well documented. No mention that he's one of the far-right oil nuts.
