What effect will the next terror attack have on America? |
|
I am still in shock and awe over the way the neo cons have successfully exploited the nine eleven terror attacks. Just look what lofty heights they attained based on our national shock and awe and fear!
For the most part, all of that exploitative energy has subsided and much of the horrific fear of attack has been diluted. Long gone are those happy days of color coded alerts, when we knew exactly how terrified to be on a daily basis.
This makes me wonder in dread how we will respond as a nation after the next spectacular terror attack. I'm afraid I know the answer. I'm afraid it will work again, only better this time.
I am a pessimist in this regard. Look around you, bush is at his most desperate moment, the neocons will not let this all slip away after they've gone to all this trouble, and if we need a terrifying reminder, so much the better for president cheney.
I firmly believe that we are no safer, there will be another attack, and we will fall for it hook line and sucker. What happens after the next attack is any body's guess, but there are no happy scenarios.

3. ...Some people are asking questions |
|
Good Point. People are finally asking questions about 911, and they are angry. The evidence is fairly compelling, that airplanes alone did not bring down the WTC. WTC #7 wasnt even touched during the incident, yet it collapsed in its own footprint? Hopefully, in the next false-flag attack, people will ask qustions, get out their video-cams and preserve as much evidence as possible.

2. it would be another instance of our President NOT protecting us. |
|
And it would land squarely on Bush's shoulders - rightly so.

7. riiiiiiight ... the media will keep hyping that this happened on the Dems' watch |
|
conveniently forgetting that 9/11 happened on Bush's watch, despite the Repukes' attempts to paint it as a Clinton failure ...
Remember, if the media kisses Bush's ass again, they'll get to tag along and film the great things that the military is doing in the next war ... if they don't kiss, there will be absolutely no protection, including getting there at all ...

5. Effects of the next Terror Attack on America |
|
Suspending the Bill of Rights with the approval of the American People.
Massive increase in law enforcement funding.
Massive increase in military funding.
Another country or two invaded.
The final destruction of American Democracy.
And it won't make a difference if it happens on Bush's watch or not.

6. The president will use it as an excuse to liquidate leftists Woodrow Wilson style |
|
Now there was a president who could drive an anti-war movement underground by arresting the protest leaders to torture and beat and then sending out thousands of marshals into the countryside to sniff out other "troublemakers" and destroy "anti-government propaganda."

9. The Wingnuts WANT an attack |
|
In the wake of the Democrats regaining control of the House and Senate, I've been hearing plenty of wingnuts on hate radio wishing for some type of attack...as though this will restore their manchild's "popularity" and be some type of retribution against us "traitors". Somehow another hundred or thousand dead here would justify the killing of hundreds of thousands elsewhere and feed their ongoing bloodlust.
In 2004, I was sure this regime had another 9/11 up its sleeves, but I suspected, wrongly, I'm glad to say, such an attack wouldn't happen here, but somewhere close where the emotional impact would be felt, but not the economic one. I wouldn't put it past this regime to encourage such an attack to grab more power and hope to return the "fear factor" that is the only political trump card they'll have to play in '08.
I think this regime has few arrows left in the quiver...and the Boosh "legacy" will point more to a failed war than being the "crisis president" that was astroturfed in the days following 9/11. Rove thought he could play the "they haven't attacked us since..." card in the last election and that didn't work. Now would he, or whomever will planning the '08 dirty tricks, feel the "electorate needs a lesson"?
Sadly, the cynic in me knows that the right wing in this country would prefer to exploit another attack that kills Americans for their own political advantage than for the "security" of the "homeland".
