1. What about our AMERICAN victims of hurricane Katrina?
The Gulf Coast tragedy is the state of the union. Part of our country was wiped out and politicians do not seem to care. Could you imagine how you would feel if you lost your home and loved ones and then watched that poor excuse of a man speak last night?

Need to rebuilt Trent Lott's house.

6. It's a part of the SOTU that he doesn't want to call attention too. The
American people might start wondering how things are down there and, God/dess forbid, asking questions. :sarcasm:

They might start wondering more/again, "if he can't help Americans after a hurricane properly how can we believe that he'll be able to protect us from terrorists or clean up the damage afterward properly". They might actually (gasp!) search the Internet and find the news articles tucked away by the corp media about how the dead bodies are still being found... how there are many children and adults still missing... about how 80% of the black population (the very soul of NO IMO) won't be returning to NO... (etc etc etc)

The SOTU is no longer used to actually INFORM... it's a tool of propaganda that is mostly used to whip up the remaining "faithful"... since most of the rest of us aren't buying it any more and/or don't own nor care to own a pair of waders high enough to go that deep in BuShit.

2. I just couldn't bring myself to watch the warmonger last night
after reading this morning paper and coming here I don't think I missed anything, except when the Dems applauded on stopping social security reforms. I would have loved to have seen that, I'm hoping liveoaktx caught it.

3. terror the number one topic
we have become such a paranoid nation. Metaphorically speaking, if the US were a person, we'd be baricaded in our house and armed to the teeth and psychotic. For an individual, that's unacceptable. But for a nation, apparently that's just ducky. :eyes:

5. Throughout history fear & paranoia have been used to manipulate...
the often ignorant masses into blindly following and doing whatever the government (or religion) wants done. It's all about control and power.

7. that's what makes it so frustrating
There's ample precedent, but the 'masses' never seem to learn, even after several thousand years of the same behavior.

11. Very true. I guess some people LIKE to be manipulated & played. Besides...
it's so much easier to let others think for you and to follow blindly. For these lazy folks to have to actually excercise and USE their brain must be way too painful after so long a time of neglect and abuse.

10. He mentioned Civil Right one, or at least how he thought it was OK to
stomp all over them with his spying.

Also think there was a lie about spending money on the Gulf Coast, but I guess that could mean sending money to his brother in FL.
