Shop at Sears....They are treating their Reserve employees well |
|
I just got this message in my email. I'm reposting w/o doing any additional fact checking.
Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year?
How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up...
Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.
I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution.
Suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.
Pass it on.
Decided to check this before I sent it forward. So I sent the following email to the Sears Customer Service Department:
Received this email and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your company. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item, even if it's cheaper at that store.
This is their answer to my email:
Dear Customer: Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback.
Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

I'll go to Sears first. Of course we don't have much else here in DL MN. But I've always liked Kenmore products anyway.

10. I live in Key Largo and it's the only game in town. |
|
So I guess I don't have to feel guilty about shopping there every day. Thanks! :)

7. I bought some gifts and told the manager |
|
the reason I bought these gifts, at Sears, was because of their policy regarding the young people in the service. He thanked me for saying that.

I worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. In 1970 when I got out Boeing was laying alot of people off. They hired me back and layed me off at the same time, same moment.

That's why I don't mind fighting the traffic, the people and paying a little more for something there.

11. Yeah, and they dropped their retiree pension payments too... |
|
http://groups.msn.com/SearsRetailWorkers/general.msnw?action=get_message&mview=1&ID_Message=97They were one of the first to do it too! Lowering the pensions of folks who already retired, while padding the execs... I don't think I'll be shopping at Sears any time soon. How quickly they forget. Scuba

14. I have been doing most of my Xmas shopping at Sears/Kmart |
|
my reason was because, if memory serves me correctly, they were very supportive of emergency contraception availability when that issue first came up. But this is another good reason.
