Regarding the "Blind Sheikh" Omar Abdel Rahman - can anyone confirm

Peter Lance claims, on hiw website (http://www.peterlance.com/TRIPLE%20CROSS%20Timeline.pdf -- PDF of timeline) that during the first week of September 2001, the Taliban made an offer to the US to exchange some Christian missionaries they had in jail for release of Rahman.

Can anyone confirm that this is true, or source it?

The news today about him having said that if he died in jail that all hell should break loose, is making me wonder about this.

(idea being that 9/11 was directly related to the emprisonment of the sheikh, or failure to release him when the offer was made the week prior -- if indeed such an offer had been made)
