How I KNOW things are bad for the Republicans.
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 06:30 PM by The Backlash Cometh
So I became a member of one of those music download services, and I went to their top billboard section, and DAMN! country music outnumbers all other kinds of music almost 2 out of three times. I find that incredibly revealing because I don't ever listen to country music. Those poor Republicans must be really depressed because they're churning that stuff out like gruel at a soup kitchen.

Other signs: There are more Kerry/Edwards 2004 bumperstickers spotted as there are Bush/Cheney stickers.

Republicans are meekly looking downward as they pass me at the groceries, or are outright polite!

And my right-wing neighbor must be so drunk at night that he forgets to shut off the illegal spotlight he ran on the golfcourse property which he plans to adversely steal someday.

Things are looking up.

1. Ah, big time Democrat who loves country
Albeit, classic country. I don't think country is purely a Republican commodity. Yes, there are some wing-nut country stars, but there are also some wonderful, progressive ones, too. For instance, Willie Nelson and the Dixie Chicks.

3. Yes, so true
Forgot Merle. God, I love his music, and I'm glad he's taken a stand against the war in Iraq.

10. I sincerly hope you all win it back for us.
I loved the old Deep South music, but country music, along with religion, were two things the right-wing tried to co-opt with varying degrees of success. I hope we will soon hear some country music that has unifying themes, the way the Black-eye Peas write music that can reach a diverse number of people.
