2. Is she still in custody? |
|
I read on another thread that they also roughed her up and bruised her - all because she wore a t-shirt memorializing the dead of the Iraq war.
Shameful - I hope the jackbooters are proud of themselves...:grr:

3. Well, at least matters have been clarified |

It is difficult to believe we still live in a free country when stuff like this not only happens, but is expected.

5. I'm so mad about this I want to write another LTTE |
|
but I just wrote one less than two weeks ago so it probably won't get in my local paper.
I just know what the repukes are saying. "Serves the bitch right" or some such garbage. I'd love to get my licks in, but I do better at icy sarcasm in my letters. Right now I am in such a fury that I just can't muster any calm responses.

someone should find a past picture of a Bush (or Republican) Supporter wearing a T-shirt in the House and see if THEY were arrested and how much jail time THEY got? I doubt the Bush Administration would want the bad publicity that would go with jailing Cindy Sheehan. What a trial THAT would be!

9. It's not about the streets, it's about audiences of the Republic. |

The bastions of our democratic Republic are to elite to tolerate expression of the people's voices.

against the "law" in the first place. It seems to me that arresting her for "demonstrating in the Capitol building" because she wore an anti-war t-shirt made it into a much bigger deal then if they had simply allowed her to sit quietly through the speech.
The other thing that bothers me is if a "demonstration" is as peaceful as wearing a t-shirt why is it illegal there of all places? The Capitol isn't private property like where I can kick you out of my home, it's public property where much like in Town Hall we should have the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech as long as there is no threat or inciting of violence or real security risk. How is Cindy wearing a simple t-Shirt a security risk, inciting violence or non-peaceful? Would a man wearing a red, white a blue pro-war/Bush t-shirt be allowed into the Capitol building on a tour? Would he be arrested as well?

13. She probably would be fine if she wore flag sneakers but not if she wore.. |
|
one's with Bush's face with a circle and line through it.
We all know it's okey-dokey to desecrate the flag if worn as clothing but it's not okay to desecrate BushCo's lovely War or the almighty Bush himself. :sarcasm:
