Here is the thing- you ever use a tracking stock to follow a
market?? I kinda do. Well, I do in a stock market - And I have been doing so in the war ever since my
kid went over. I watch the 3rd. They were the relief force for the 101st in 2003. Ever since that time they stayed occupying Mosul. Well, as it happens, they made a pretty sudden shift south into Baghdad a few weeks ago, you know. More than curious to me.

And, by the way - I think Mr B*sh is lieing big time - do you really believe he doesn't know just what is coming down?- Cause if he doesn't we are in big trouble as a society.

There was a comment a few days ago about the similarity to Stalingrad in 1942 - you have no idea just how close to real I think you are.

Anyway - just IMO,

Joe

1. So on or after Chrimus Bush tries to liquidate Al-Sadr's militia there?
Or what other seasonal festivities do you expect will happen in Baghdad?

5. Oh, it is not a two sided fight at all. More like 16.
Reduce it to two for a minute - it is not politically possible to attack a Shia militia side without attacking a sunni militia - you get it??

About all our FOB forces are right in the middle of bad guy central - -what do you think happens to them??

What do I expect?? Oh,I do expect this thing to go both ways - what other choice is possible?? In an irrational world.

Joe, Just IMO

2. Stalingrad?
While I hate this freaking war, there simply is no comparison between what is going on in Iraq and the level of hellish human insanity that was the eastern front of WWII.

"The scope of the battle
The aftermath of the Battle of StalingradThe battle of Stalingrad was the largest single battle in human history. It raged for 199 days. Numbers of casualties are difficult to compile due to the vast scope of the battle and the fact the Soviet government didn't allow estimates to be run for fear the cost would have proven too high. In its initial phases, the Germans inflicted heavy casualties on Soviet formations; however, the Soviet counter strike cut off and annihilated the entire 6th Army (which was exceptionally strong) and parts of the 4th Panzer Army. Various scholars have estimated the Axis suffered 850,000 casualties of all types among all branches of the German armed forces and its allies: 400,000 Germans, 200,000 Romanians, 130,000 Italians, 120,000 Hungarians were killed, wounded or captured. In addition, and as many as 50,000 turncoat Soviets were killed or captured by the Red Army. According to archival figures, the Red Army suffered 478,741 men killed and 650,878 wounded (for a total of 1,129,619). These numbers; however, include a wide scope of operations. Also, more than 40,000 Soviet civilians died in Stalingrad and its suburbs during a single week of aerial bombing as the 6th and 4th Panzer armies approached the city; the total number of civilians killed in the regions outside the city is unknown. In all, the battle resulted in an estimated total of 1.7 million to 2 million Axis and Soviet casualties, making it by far the largest in human history."

3. You understand how they won that fight, the Russians??
They managed to sneak up a significant force and attack out of nowhere.

You know who lead the attack - guess who 2nd was.

6. Just a tactic man.
Anyway - there are about 6,000,000 people in that city. So if this does go over the top "offensive" - how many of them do you think will die?? If 2,000 americans died - how many??

I think a lot.

7. The whole war was different.
This is not a continental scale land war, it is a modern asymeteric conflict, a fight between an insurgent force and an occupying army combined with a complex and unstable sectarian conflict. It is a classic win every battle and lose the war dilemma. Gee where have we seen this before?

We will eventually grow weary of losing our blood and treasure on foreign soil and come home. There will be another fall of saigon moment, not some decisive climactic battle. We will come home defeated again, and again the right will invent myths to explain the disaster and blame dark conspiracies for the idiocy of their leaders.

8. This is just about a tactic in a fight.
That is all. At least to me.
