Fried Green Tomatoes, the movie.
Just saw it again tonight and have to recommend for those who haven't seen it yet.
What a wonderful collection of people and politics and attitudes of the times, set back in Alabama a few decades ago - and those who just do their own thang.

21. She did imitations of Lady Bird Johnson on TV
when Lyndon Johnson was president. I think I saw her on Johnny Carson, but it was so long ago that I can't be sure that is where I saw her.

so when I read, the reading was more diffuse or something.

Can you say more about why you liked the book better? Inquiring minds. :)

13. Gee? They're easy as hell
My family's Tennessee fried green Tomato Recipe

Pick just before they start to turn red

Wash and slice about 1/4"

Dip in beaten egg or milk

coat in dish of cornmeal
yellow or white plain or self rising your preference

Fry in in hot oil about 350
or as hot as you'd fry fish or chicken

Drain on paper towel

Seems funny to me to have to explain how to do it
But I grew up in the south with them

27. You know what's funny? I find myself living in a city and in a
blue collar 'hood. There is no fresh produce here, let alone green tomatoes.

So, how to fry what you don't have isn't an issue.

I'm thinking, it would be a nice thing to get fresh stuff into this neighborhood.

Hmm.

she was a red hot comedian when I was in high school in the 60's and was on T.V. all the time. Very funny lady! I loved Erma Bombeck too (another funny lady from that era). I know I read "The grass is always greener over the septic tank." I remember it was funny, but no details.

18. I saw it in a theater with my best friend. I said, can't believe this
movie about a lesbian love story is so popular.

She said, "What lesbian love story?!"

And my dear friend had a dear sistah pushing that Agenda whom she adored.

A remarkable film. I watch it once a year in honor of my now departed dearest friend.

:toast: to you, Laurie. I miss ya every day.

19. I didn't take it as that.. lesbian or non lesbian...
it was just plain old love and whatever levels or degrees shown or not was not important to me in regards to the bedroom thing.

I hope I make myself clear? sometimes I don't.

22. Well, the thing is, lesbian love stories have been invisible
at best through out the history of our arts -- in lit, cinema, whatEVER. It's not so much about the "bedroom thing" as it is about honoring the amazing love and commitment these women shared. Long past time for honoring these women for kicking ass even when no one would support them as a couple, isn't it?

That was pretty cool, imho.

LOL! And I will never eat street bar-b-que again.

If you liked those two, you may enjoy that one. Three sisters, great, make you shoot milk out your nose script, good watching.

Dianne Keaton's Southern accent keeps bugging in and out but it just doesn't matter.
