College Women at Risk for Psychiatric Illness at Politically Correct Campuses
College Women at Risk for Psychiatric Illness at Politically Correct Campuses

By Hilary White

WASHINGTON, The solution to the extreme psychic distress suffered by so many college women, is not the commonly prescribed anti-depressants Zoloft or Paxil, but sexual continence and religious faith, says a college psychiatrist in her recently published anonymous memoir.

In “Unprotected: A Campus Psychiatrist Reveals How Political Correctness in Her Profession Endangers Every Student,” “Dr. Anonymous” wrote that the endemic problems mystifying educators and health professionals, are caused by the politically correct approval of rampant sexual promiscuity that characterizes college life. The book was released this week by Sentinel, a division of Penguin Group (USA) Inc.

Young women in college in the US and Canada suffer from an epidemic of depression, eating disorders and even self-mutilation and suicidal thoughts and behavior. Campus health professionals, steeped in the politically correct doctrines of sexual “freedom” and feminist theory, fail even to acknowledge the existence of the real cause.

Dr. Anonymous, who chose to keep her identity secret out of fear of professional reprisal, identifies the damage done to women by the feminist ideology that proposes women are psychologically identical to men and encourages sexual promiscuity – as long as it is made “safe” with a condom.

1. Sorry, but a psychiatrist who can't identify herself
is not very credible.

2. no shit. IF she's a she and IF "she's" a psychiatrist
and not some focus on the family nutter, then "she's" right to remain anonymous because "she's" talking shit.

3. You know what's funny?
I agree with her that there's too much casual sex in college (and adulthood), and I *still* think she's an idiot. Depression, eating disorders, and the like aren't connected to sexual activity; they're problems resulting from chemical imbalances in the brain.

In other words, she's looking at the wrong end of the body, to find solutions to these problems.

10. Casual sex has never been MY thing
but I don't begrudge people doing what works for them.

6. While I can't comment

on the state of campus counseling centers (and I'm sure many are poorly equipped to deal with the issues that come about), these criticisms sound sort of well....hollow and meaningless.

I mean, what is a counselor supposed to tell someone about promiscuous sex? Just say no? Practice abstinence? And as for abortion, are they supposed to stigmatize and make the young woman feel guilty for considering it?

One thing that's amusing is that the same folks that are criticizing this so called radical agenda make constant fun of the "don't say no" messages about date rape, and domestic abuse...

The RWers aren't constant. Ultimately, this "psychiatrist" sounds like a hack at the Family Research Council or some other nutty organization.

8. This is just wrong is so many ways
blaming 'feminist ideology' for college women's depression and 'promiscuity'. Very suspect if you ask me. A person with an agenda that has little to do with women's mental health.

But that's probably obvious.

14. How many ways...
Are there to express how wrong this shit is? People are going to quoting this as some definitive scientific study, when it's just some made up shit with no basis in any science, other than the science of cloacal output.
