LOU DOBBS TONIGHT

Aired December 14, 2006 - 18:00 ET

<snip>One of this country's most senior military commanders, General Peter Schoomaker, today called for a large increase in the size of the U.S. Army. General Schoomaker said the Army will break without additions of thousands more troops.

The Marine Corps is also asking for more troops. The military's request comes as the Bush administration is preparing to announce a new strategy for Iraq.

The Democrats are demanding quick action on Iraq, but Democrats are failing to come up with a plan of their own, as Jamie McIntyre now reports from the Pentagon on the military's urgent and increasing requests for more troops.

Elaine Quijano reporting tonight from the White House on whether the president is planning to increase the number of troops in Iraq.

And Bill Schneider reports from Washington on the Democrats' failure to come up with a strategy of their own for the war in Iraq.

We turn first to Jamie McIntyre at the Pentagon -- Jamie.

1. The Republican strategy has failed. That's the unsaid message.

And Lou, the Dems haven't had one single meeting as official majority. That won't happen for weeks. Where did they caucus to come up with a plan? Have your researchers actually checked because it seems to me that Murtha, Levin, Biden, and others (McGovern and Polk) have indeed "come up with a strategy." If you continue to blatantly lie to your viewers, eventually they will notice and stop watching.

2. Don't count on people to stop watching anyone due to blatant lies.
Fox, Hannity, O'Lielly etc. all have an audience. And those guys don't even bother lying. They just make it up as they go.

3. Plus the ISG recommendations that Bush has ignored was supposedly a bi-partisan effort

I wonder why Lou doesn't mention that?

4. Noticed that this is (again) becoming the rallying call
just as it was in the run up to Nov. 7th. "What's their plan?" Wasn't that Bush's 'sing-a-long everybody!" stump slogan? I heard it from a two or three others yesterday as well. KO even made a point of saying that 'Iraq was no where to be mentioned' in her press conference today.

Problem is, the nano-second that any Democrat publicly says something before Bush D'cides to C'municate, the shit hits the fan that "The President is the Commander-in-Chief!!!! This is a power grab by the Democrat Party of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid!!!" Karl has Bush is just sitting back and waiting to pounce.

My guess is that Bush will give a big speech on January 3rd, at the same time that Nancy Pelosi is being sworn in. They'll ask for (and receive) TV coverage by all networks. From the end of that speech through we'll all be hearing over and over and over again the 'highlights' (conveniently provided by the WH), and the sycophants will be praising the Dear Leader ending each appearance with, "We haven't heard a thing from the Democrat leadership. Did you know they were sworn in?" Then the on-air host will dutifully say, "Yeah, those Democrats sure came in with a whimper."
