3. I've been expecting that, too. And Lindsey Graham's heart will be crushed.
McCain doesn't mind Graham following him around like a puppy, but, McCain won't risk putting Graham on the ticket. No way will he be able to keep the closet door shut at that point.

6. What a supremely delusional combination.
Yeah, that'll bring in the votes.

Let me know which groups you think would go for that white-haired ticket.

8. Forming their own party - the "INO" party
running on the idea that Joe is a DINO, and John is a RINO ... despite the evidence of McCain sucking at the Religious Reich's cash teat ...

13. Given that they both want to escalate in Iraq
I can't imagine a ticket sinking like a stone any faster than McCain/Lieberman. Talk about being out of touch with the American people!!!

15. First off, *not* obvious.
Second off, not gonna happen. If McCain gets the nom (and I think he will), he's gonna have to reach right to make the fundies happy (Brownback will do nicely, but he may even go for Ashcroft or an Ashcroft clone). Lieberman is far far too liberal for most Republicans to stomach. There's a damn good reason Joe didn't jump parties this year. He knows he'd hate it in their company.

I'm not saying he wouldn't take it if it was offered, but I don't see how it could ever be offered. Just because we loathe him doesn't mean they love him.

16. With any luck, it will happen but as a third party
It should pull more than enough disillusioned Repugs away to give the Dem candidates a certain victory.

it is from the Naughty/Nice thread at Unity08...just in case you think everyone there is for touting McCain/Lieberman...
naughty or nice
Opinionated Ed on December 15, 2006 - 9:14am
irst, the good guys of 2006...

- Russ Feingold (nobody came close in defense of the Constitution, proposing health care reform, solutions for Iraq, and many other legislative initiatives.)
- Lincoln Chafee (Being the Republican who best stood up to the White House. Runners up: Olympia Snowe, Chuck Hagel.)
- Steve Colbert (one of the few media voices that spoke honestly to Americans. Runners up: Jon Stewart, Keith Olberman.)

Honorary Mention: Dennis Kucinich. This guy has a zero percent chance of getting elected, and he is running on primarily one issue. That is to defund the war in Iraq to bring our troops home. For those that watched Bush's speech earlier this week, he is dead set on staying the course for the rest of his presidency. The only way that the majority of our troops will be coming home is to force Bush's hand. This is not a fringe lefty issue. The Republicans were just swept out of congress this past November with opposition to the war being the #1 issue. And support for the war is now only at 21%. By the way, who are those 21%?

Now, the bad guys of 2006...

My first thought was that the bad guys were the Senators that continued to take in the biggest money from the corporate lobbies, and who voted with those corporate interests against the will of the people. Three Senators immediately jumped to mind:
- John McCain
- Joe Lieberman
- Hillary Clinton
After all, they were the biggest receivers of corporate money, and they have a proven history of voting for the interests of those corporations and interests. If we are to be a democracy, we need to have our voices heard too.

But if I could dump one big load of coal in front of one person's door, it would be Senator McCain. He is taking the lead in opposing Net Neutrality and has proposed legislation to heavily fine blogs and message boards that fail to tightly control the content posted by all its members (censorship by fines). Both could have a devistaing effect on grass roots organizations like Unity08. But why is Senator McMaverick doing this? Because no other senator has received more money from the telecommunications lobby than this man has. That's why their vote is his vote. And that's why every media outlet still tries to sell their paid for senator a "maverick".

Does anyone here believe that John McCain is a maverick, and why?
