Over ONE MILLION With Out Power In WA STATE!!!
I just got my power back on from dangerous storm last night. Many people lost their homes, boats, cars and schools are closed. It is dangerous place right now with trees and live wires down everywhere! I hope DU members are safe.

1. Jeebers that's a lot of people...
I was just reading about it, sounds like hurricane type damage.

Hope all the DU'ers in the Northwest are safe!

5. We're without power on the Kitsap Peninsula
We just took a drive around our area and there are many trees down on power lines. Several roads are closed, fences blown down, branches everywhere, and schools are closed. Last time this happened, we were without electricity for four days. We finally purchased a generator this year--noisy and smelly, but at least I have DU!

6. OMG, the wind...
It was howling to no end last night. I lost my power at around 8:30 pm and just got it back on at 8:45 AM this morning.

8. Yes, that was quite something. The house was shattering. Our
cats were hiding under the bed. I knew it was irrational but I did fear it would blow off the roof... And that's in Seattle itself. It was much worse elsewhere, and especially on the coast and in the mountains.

9. I took the puppy out at 3am and for the first time leashed him because
I was actually afraid he'd get blown away.

10. My pet bunny, he was hiding too.
I couldn't get him to come out behind the couch to put him away. Pets are lot more sensitive to noise and they don't like it.

7. My wife and I will be picking up branches all day.
We live on a heavily wooded 3 acre homesite. It won't be the first time I'll be making multiple trips to the recycler.

Our power was out for about 4 hours last night, but those unsung heroes got it going again. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be up clearing trees in that wind.

16. is THAT what that was?!
cool! i didn't know what caused it - i never saw anything like it. i read this morning that power lines getting zapped make a blue green color, so i wondered if that was it, but there was so much of it. i noticed the accompanying thunder was unusual too - sort of like a quick hit of an oil drum or something - not the rolling thunder that's normal.

Very strange, but definitely cool.

17. I live pretty close to Everett. The power has been off since last night.
I didn't have phone service last night or this morning (I have cable voip). Some parts of the city won't have power until this evening - I'm sure your family is fine. The storm was bad, but not nearly as bad as national news made it out to be. It's not that cold here and mostly we're just inconvenienced (traffic problems, downed trees and no power). Well I'm sure it was worse in some places - especially where there was flash flooding, but when I read the news this morning you'd think the whole region was under siege.

18. Okay, thanks
I tried to reach them by cell & got a weird connection then the phone disconnected. I either got voice mail or an answering machine at home, so maybe their power is still out.

Thanks for letting me know. :)

19. Man, I almost lost my car when the water rose up above the
running boards. Trees crashing everywhere. The entire parking lot had cars stuck.

The air is cleaner today though.

Bush seeds the clouds around here regularly thats why we get so much rain. }(

20. Home from work today, with school closed.
Things are fine here; my mom is buried further south. Downed trees, blocked driveway, looking at a few days without power at this point.

In OR, not WA, but same storm.
