1. I like Denver...

smack in the middle of America. The Republicans holding a GOP convention in New York City made some sense -- reaching out to the Northeast, where they're weak. Similarly, they're holding their 2008 convention in solidly blue Minneapolis/St. Paul. While I don't agree with the GOP on much, I do agree on this tactic. The Dems holding a convention in NYC looks insular, but the Dems in Denver looks more open.

We have just constructed this AMAZING new Convention Center. It's beautiful.

Right across from the Denver Performing Arts Complex and only blocks from the 16th Street Mall, a shopping district with free Natural Gas powered Mall Rides.

9. The g-o-piggies had their '04 convention in NYC to exploit 9-11.

I'd like to see the DNC in Denver, as NYC is the focal point of many large events, Denver is beautiful and part of the West that is turning Blue!

1) NYC has been through enough and they need a break. My daughter started at NYU during the repuke convention and it really did screw up things in the city. I am sure New Yorkers would appreciate being left alone.

2) The Democrats could and should (but will they) play up the idea that we are not crassly exploiting the 9/11 shit for cheap photo ops.

3) Though I do not understand people who would change their vote because the convention is in their state or city, I realize it does happen and every little bit helps.

So, second choice is Denver. NYC loves us anyway.

I was in that mass of protest in 2004. What an inspiring time that was to be with a million like minded patriots.

in the middle of January for a new job. My wife and I are relocating to Denver (me in the middle of January - her when we sell our house in Charlotte). We don't know anyone there. What can you recommend to meeting people? (Hopefully progressives)

Democrats rebuilding part of New Orleans for the convention and helping to bring people out of their FEMA trailers and back into their old neighborhoods could become a powerful national symbol of hope and civic responsibility, especially compared to the GOP's murderous negligence.

29. Mostly, I'd love to see the network talking heads explaining how everywhere they go...

is the former site of something or other destroyed by Katrina. Remind people just how extensive the damage was, how much of that was due to budget cuts at the Corps of Engineers preventing adequate work on the levees, how Bu**sh** was off at a birthday party and had to be PERSUADED to watch a DVD presentation of the disaster, how totally unprepared FEMA was under Bu**sh**'s handpicked crony director, and how much worse the disaster was made by the utterly botched post-disaster response, which continues to this day.

Why Dem Party leadership can't see advantage in that, I don't understand.

We need another populist campaign to sweep the prairies, the Mountain West and the South.

The last thing we need is to reinforce the idea that Democrats are the party of Northeastern elitists by holding a convention in NYC. I see nothing to gain by having it there. I was hoping for Minneapolis but I'll take Denver.
