Oh no! I liked Glenn Beck on the radio today. |
|
I caught about an hour of his show while on the road from Cleveland to Columbus. He was smart, entertaining, and funny. I laughed out loud numerous times. I was sorry when the station he was on faded out.
Now what? Do I have to start watching his show on CNN/HN, which I have been specifically avoiding?

There are a few topics that he might sound sane on. Others, not so much.

Seriously, you'll need to be more specific. I'm sure there's SOMETHING this man can talk about without sounding like a total douchebag...

12. I don't remember all of the topics, I'm afraid. |
|
(I was, of course, concentrating on my driving.) But there was a section about Obama that seemed like a normal "take" on him, and a fairly long section about whether or not to give money to panhandlers that, again, seemed within reason to me and very entertaining to listen to going down the road. He knocked the R's a bit, he knocked the D's a bit.
I think today was "phone in Friday" or something so there are a number of listener calls and I'm sorry, but they sounded pretty normal too. Perhaps this was not a typical program? I'm as annoyed by the "usual villains" as anyone here and I was absolutely prepared to hate Beck when I tuned into him, but I just didn't. What can I say?

15. It might have been Smerconish I heard talking about Obama. |
|
The first thing I tuned in was Rushbo, which was completely intolerable. He characterized liberals as "feelers" and conservatives as "thinkers" (talk about opposite day) and was so generally irritating I just turned him off after about three minutes.
Then I hit Smerconish, who was a little better. (Like being a little better than dog doo.) He faded out, so I tuned around some more and got Beck. Maybe he just seemed OK after the other two. I would have preferred any progressive talker, but I was "out in the country" so, no.

Lock yourself in a closet with set of headphones tuned to Air America glued (literally) to your head! Do not leave for a week, at least! And remember what he said to Ellison!
Don't even listen to hear what the other side is saying. Let Air America filter it for you. They're paid to do that, and they are professionals.

9. Well I agreed with hannity once |
|
Once. So I suppose it may be all right to agree with beck once. But any more agreeing with either of those "gentlemen" and we may have to turn in our Liberal cards. In my case, I may jump from a bridge into the river if I ever agree with hannity again. Or even watch him for that matter. You should turn on sports radio, NPR, Classic Rock, New Rock, Country (maybe not), or anything but beck.

14. And this is the reason there are 1000 RW radio shows to 10 left wing shows |
|
Because the left will not refuse to listen to the garbage, and the right will not not listen. Therefore all theese pigs get the ratings from both the right and the left and stay on the air.
People on the left who listen to this crap, give them ratings and buy from their sponsors are playing right into their hands. It's a shame when I hear more complaints from the left about Air America radio then I do about Scarboro , Beck and people like that.
Just dont listen to it. They will lose ratings and maybe there will be a change of what the "liberal media" has to offer.

to come on my station at 3:00, Rush is on before her. I have to wait it out, don't want Rush to get any ratings from me.

When he's not talking politics, he's smart, witty, even LOL funny most of the time. His Christmas show is great. It's about family and Christmas memories. You CAN like people and disagree with them politically! :wow: Duckie

The topics I heard him talk about were things like panhandlers and other non-political stuff. It was kind of a comedy thing, like Sam Kinison dialed down to 5. He was definitely cracking me up, more than Al Franken but less than Stephanie Miller (my favorite).
I seem to remember tuning into his TV show by accident from time to time and hearing him say some blockheaded thing about foreign policy or whatever. From that, combined with the feeling toward him on this board, I just assumed he was totally worthless, which is why I was so surprised to find myself enjoying the commentary I heard yesterday.

before 9/11 -- and enjoyed him. He seemed to be pretty balanced, without much respect for many R talking points.
After 9/11, he mostly turned into the idiot he is today, but he may still have "moments of clarity".
