"CBS & Charlie Sheen ridiculed & mocked Christ, Christmas & Christians!"

Contact: Cindy Roberts, American Family Association, 662-844-5036 x227

TUPELO, Miss., Dec. 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- American Family Association has called for CBS and the sponsors of Two and a Half Men to apologize for ridiculing and mocking Christ, Christmas and Christians.

On the December 11 episode of the program, the network included Sheen singing about his sexual activity to the tune of the traditional Christmas hymn "Joy to the World."

"CBS approved Sheen's adaptation of the favorite Christmas carol, making it into a vulgar sex song," said Donald E. Wildmon, Chairman of AFA. "The network and sponsors paid Sheen to mock Christ, Christmas and Christians. Many in the Christian community are growing tired of this bigotry by the networks and Hollywood," he said.

A clip featuring the song can be found at afa.net. Sponsors included Ford, Campbell's Soup, Hallmark and Zales.

Wildmon said the episode opens with series star Charlie (Sheen) singing:

"Joy to the world, I'm getting laid; I'm getting laid tonight. We'll light the yule log, deck the halls, and then we'll play some jingle balls. It's been a real long wait – this is our second date! It's Christmas Eve and I'm getting laid."

His housekeeper/cook comes in and asks:

"Hey, I'm mixing up the eggnog. You want this broad lit up or just slightly glowing?"

"Well," Charlie says, "let's see, we're celebrating peace on earth and good will towards all mankind, so let's get 'er plowed!" "Hallelujah!" says the cook.

Good grief, Charlie Sheen ridicules EVERYTHING and he is dumb enough to pay for hookers with his credit card.

Really annoyes me. The guy in the house just north of us has a lot of Christmas decorations up. Havocdad said "Whadda ya mean, ya can't see the northern lights? How can ya miss the damned things?"

Some day, I wanna get up your way. But tales of the skitters scare me! :hi:

6. I Thought This Was The Funniest Episode Yet.......
this is the only program on TV that I actually laugh out loud to.

Come on people - lighten up.

If you want to complain about something that is obscene - complain about all the people that are getting killed in Iraq (both U.S. citizens and Iraqi's) just to give George W. Bush a legacy as a 'war president'. Remember - he lied us into the war. Now that's obscene.

Not so much fun when you're on the receiving end huh, wild-mon? I'm beginning to lose respect for Christ - how omnipotent can he be if he allows assholes like this to hijack his message and turn it into this selfish whining crybaby shit.

The appliance salesmen must know who the fundies are by sight or smell or SOMETHING. They automatically sell the fundies those TVs that have no off switches.

28. Whiny Christians, get over it! You re-write lyrics all the time!
In chapel, we used to re-write lyrics all the time, and so did everyone else. The religion majors particularly enjoyed it. I don't know a single religion major I went to college with who wouldn't laugh his ass off at that line. And I went to a Nazarene college (Dobson's church).

I think it was hilarious. :D

30. As a Christian, I would have thought the lyrics funnier if they had
penciled them to the tune of Jingle Bells, or a song not originally written celebrating the birth of Christ. Likewise, I have never been thrilled when the Allelujah chorus of Handel's Messiah is used in films to celebrate orgasms or explosions or other exciting moments in the director's mind. But unlike Mr. Wildmon, I have the intelligence and physical dexterity to pick up the remote and turn to another channel.

31. They should not make fun of Christmas
Edited on Sat Dec-16-06 11:01 AM by rebel with a cause
Don't they know that this is a special holiday especially created for corporations and other organizations to make money. After all, if it was not meant for exploitation, why would the "war on Christmas" people be demanding retailers greet their customers with the phrase "Merry Christmas" in order to encourage them to buy the special holiday items. :sarcasm:

By the way, my father was a Baptist minister who did not believe in televisions when they came on the market. We did not get one until the mid fifties. Thank heavens I was still a child and was able to be fully influenced by the tv revolution. Anyway, there was no remotes in those days, and my father being a bit of a religious zealot, we were required to get up to adjust the tv every time there were commercials for cigarettes or liquor, a woman in shorts, a love scene or one involving childbirth, and anything else he objected to. How did we adjust the tv? We had to turn the parallel hold control and turn the volume off, then time the commercial before we readjusted. And I wonder why I was so thin back then. As the youngest, I probably never got to sit still more than a few minutes of uninterrupted tv viewing.

My father in all his craziness was still against this new type of zealot. He believed in free will and and did not force his ways on others. Before he died (in 1986) he called this new type of fundamental religion cults, and warned me not to ever get involved with them. Of course, I had already turned away from organized religion, but he was still afraid enough of them to warn me.

:boring:

35. by the way
Edited on Sat Dec-16-06 12:34 PM by rebel with a cause
I watched the show and thought it was funny. My father's favorite rewording, or adding on of words, of a hymn to teach his children(who then taught it to the other children in the church) was to the hymn "In the sweet by and by". You know every time this song was sung, that if you listened hard enough, you would hear a small chorus of children adding them on.

"In the sweet" (Give me some meat)
"By and by" (Give me some pie)
"We will meet on the beautiful shore" (Give me some more)

Probably inspired by the many church dinners we attended.

Rove 'described fundamentalist Christians as nuts'

By Andrew Gumbel in Los Angeles

Published: 14 October 2006

Efforts by the Republican Party to rally grassroots support for next month's mid-term elections were knocked yesterday by a new book suggesting that right-wing evangelical Christians are regarded with contempt by the White House's top strategists and courted strictly for their votes.

The book, by former White House insider David Kuo, suggested that Karl Rove, President Bush's top political advisor, and his staff, routinely refer to fundamentalist Christians as "the nuts". That is unlikely to be taken kindly by the evangelicals who voted in 2004 and made the crucial difference in securing President Bush's re-election.

Mr Kuo writes: "National Christian leaders received hugs and smiles in person and then were dismissed behind their backs and described as 'ridiculous' and 'out of control'."

--more--
The Nuts

Hey, AFA, haven't you heard? Your master's chief of staff says you're "ridiculous" and "out of control!!!"

Go practice your "Chumpsianity" somewhere else!
