Purple fingers OK, but T-shirts are not?

Last year, political demonstrations -- in the form of purple fingers -- were allowed at the SOTU:

"Our generational commitment to the advance of freedom, especially in the Middle East, is now being tested and honored in Iraq," he said. "We will succeed because the Iraqi people value their own liberty as they showed the world last Sunday."

Supporters stuck their forefingers in the air — not unlike college football fans declaring "We're number one" — as the president spoke.

1. Or even wearing red during Ronald Reagan's SOTU.
It's a fashion statement.

2. Purple fingers
do not question the motives of Bush Inc, only enhance and perpetuate them.

3. RIGHT
So, what we have here is selective enforcement based on political views.

4. Anything in support of bushco and their atrocities is a beautiful thing...
anything in opposition is an agitator and must be thrown in jail. Welcome to the Neocon Nation!

5. Her getting kicked out
made more news then her just sitting there. She took one for the team.

6. I asked a Pug friend if we'd see wagging purple fingers again.
I mentioned to a neocon friend that "I don't think we'll see any Republicans wagging purple wingers in the air again this year".

Last year, they were so damned proud of themselves. "Democracy is on the march" and as a result, it suggested we'd be out of Iraq "soon".

But a year later, we're still there and Islamicists openly hostile to the United States are taken advntage of those "free and open Democratic elections" to gain litigitamacy and seize power.

As you noted: No wagging purple fingers this year, huh?
