what happens if the Vice President dies ? |
|
with all this talk of Senators and what happens if they die. i'm wondering about the VP.
i know after Agnew resigned Ford was brought in. but Agnew had resigned and not died. so are there different rules for what happens ?
how did Gerald Ford become vp ? did the Pres just pick him or did the Congress have to approve. so if the VP were to die and Congress is Dem at the time would the Dem congress have power over who that is ?

The president gets to nominate the next VP, but Congress has to approve the nomination.

it's the quiet smiles behind the widow's veil. For the passing of some select few, it's a private 'pop' of champagne after the mourners have gone, leaving the family to remember the truth behind the facade. For still others, a very, very few who have turned the lives of millions into misery, the breaking of such chains by the inevitable master of all Fate is indeed cause for celebration.
We wouldn't be celebrating Cheney's life, but our memories of the life he lived with due justice. Remember the end of the Wicked Witch of the West...the chorus of "Ding-Dong" that will go up for Cheney will shake the heavens.

I do not think it is just a pick from a President but I can not recall how Ford got the job. I think it was because their was no Vice at the time and Nixon left. I do not think their is any thing in Constitution about replacing a Vice. But I have not dragged out the Constitution to read it..It only states, I think, about the President.
