If this "war" is so important maybe Bush's daughters should go over there
http://www.playfuls.com/news_0003906_Damon_Maybe_Bush_Twins_Should_Go_To_Iraq.html

In an interview in Washington, actor Matt Damon suggested that President George W. Bush's daughters "maybe" should join the military.

Damon and actor Robert De Niro were guests on the MSNBC cable show, "Hardball with Chris Matthews," promoting their upcoming movie, "The Good Shepherd." Directed by De Niro, the film is an account of the early history of the CIA.

During the interview, scheduled to air Monday, Damon talked about the fairness of fighting the war in Iraq with a volunteer Army.

"I don't think that it's fair as I said before, that it seems like we have a fighting class in our country that's comprised of people who have to go for either financial reasons or, I don't think that that is fair," said Damon, 36. "And if you're gonna send people to war ... then that needs to be shared by everybody, you know, and if the president has daughters who are of age then maybe they should go too."

2. They'd probably get kicked out of Iraq too....
Argentina had their fill of them, that's for sure. The day you see anyone from the Bush family fighting in "W"'s war is the day Prescott Bush will be ice skating in hell.

5. would you trust a bush daughter to cover your back in combat?
They'd get tillman'ed the moment they hit the field.

Some believe that the reason germany was such a warlike culture was because
of the professional prussian army, and that the 'people' were taken to war by
professionals who made bad judgements in their proxy. This argument is used
as reinforcement of the idea of a national service, that no elite take the people to war.

Though i've only heard this critique related to germany, it is squarely the
problem in the US as well.

6. Chickenhawks don't fight in wars
Cheney "had other priorities" during the Vietnam war. Junior hid out in the Champagne Squadron of the TANG.

Who served?

Chickenhawks bravely send others to fight in combat.

8. The children of political leaders rarely fight in wars.
I agree with the premise of the OP, but once children are of age they are free to make their own decisions and they are free to disagree with their parents. Hypocrisy does not always have a party affiliation. If Chelsea Clinton had been of age when her dad was in office would she have been expected to go and fight in a conflict? Republicans would probably say "yes", but we would give her a pass. Inconsistency and hypocrisy abound everywhere. The rich and powerful just have more wherewithal to indulge in them with a free conscience.

10. If human progress is so important, maybe humans should be tested on?
See, it doesn't work like that. We live in a specialized world. You have to take the good with the bad. Sorry.

12. I don't believe they should be forced into combat roles
but I suspect they would make great "comfort girls".
