1. Anderson cooper makes Windows?
Isn't that copyright infringement against Microsoft?

2. No, Andersen Windows - the glass things you put on your house.
Mine is a serious question. I believe it deserves a serious answer.

Does it give any information at their website?

6. Then why did you respond in the first place?
That's right, to crack a joke at my expense.

9. I responded because I spent the last five minutes
trying to find the information for you. If you had already checked out their website and found it to be a runaround, I wasn't going to go there. But since you didn't, I assume, I went there. This is what I have discovered:

According to their website, their offices are in the US and one in Canada:

Please check out here:

http://www.andersenwindows.com/servlet/Satellite/AW/Page/awGeneral-3/1102951371075

They also have a page for people interested in a career, and I didn't see anything to indicate that they were offshoring.

I'm sorry if I made you angry-I was sincerely trying to help!

10. Please forgive me. It really is my fault.

Coworkers and a supervisor have been pointing out my short temper recently... so has my counselor.

And then a conversation with mum this morning and I'm grateful I don't drink coffee... (she'd mentioned Andersen, and then we argued for 20 minutes over a financial concern, yet another mistake I made...)

I'm very glad they don't offshore! :patriot:

And thank you much for taking the time to look. :pals: (I did a search but couldn't find anything...)

14. I thought their only plant was over south of Stillwater, ya know? Ya?
At any rate it only took them 4 weeks to fill an order with a couple dozen custom-sized window units. I don't think anyone is making and shipping from overseas that fast.

5. Here's some edification for you. Sleep tight tonight.
It is currently cheaper to MANUFACTURE items and ship them here.

How long before that changes?

And what happens WHEN that changes? No infrastructure. Nothing. We're dead.

Which is a good thing; the amount of oil we waste on all that driving... no more driving will save the atmosphere from global warming. The US still uses the most...

So laugh all you want. But the good news is, all of us Americans will be trouble in the end. And that's when I'll be laughing because we will all be equal then. :spray:

15. "because we will all be equal then"
oh, wouldst it one day be so ... sadly, the worse things become, the more the poor will suffer ... a level playing field caused by catastrophe is not going to happen ... we need to build a society of equals; fate alone will never hand us one ...

remember the old saying: that which hits the fan is not often evenly distributed ...

7. Based on what I found, it sounds like they don't.
It sounds like they're having trouble, though, having laid off a lot of people in Minnesota lately.

During Election 06, Republicans were handing out pamphlets saying Democrats wanted to kill bills that would help multinational companies, such as walmart and Andersen Windows.

That's why I asked.

Maybe they should offshore their windows. Lots of people around the world could use the products we make... until all that moves over there too...

11. If you're looking to buy windows
You might check Jeld-Wen. Headquarters in Klamath Falls, Oregon but has millwork plants around the US. Dick Wendt is a sharp businessman ( some say cut-throat) but I don't think he outsources.

12. Only concerned for America and its economy.
And I've been letting offshoring eat too much of me. Instead of studying a new trade, which is what I ought to be doing... and hope I can overcome the offshoring in it...

17. Off-shoring eats at me too
but I do have a problem understanding the difference between off-shoring or out-sourcing jobs and importing labor to fill the jobs we can't send off-shore. Whether it be roofers or IT techs or jobs in manufacturing that have moved to Mexico or China, I don't feel that US citizens should have to compete with near-slave labor.
But, that's off-topic.
Good luck in your new trade.

16. Pretty sure it's all home-grown manufacturing
Think their headquarters and main plant is up in Minnesota.

We had Andersen windows installed last year, and they were surprisingly efficient in getting the custom sizes built and shipped (less than 4 weeks).

They use Cardinal glass, which I believe is also US manufactured.
