WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards intends to seek his party's nomination for the 2008 presidential race, two Democratic officials said Saturday.

Edwards, who represented North Carolina in the U.S. Senate for six years, plans to make the campaign announcement late this month from the New Orleans neighborhood hit hardest by last year's Hurricane Katrina.

6. It is a shame they have to announce about

two years in advance. But these days politics seem to require it. Or rather, the media. I am glad John Edwards is running however. He seems to have a knack for interacting with the public. Now if the media will let him be and let him get on with his run for president he will do just fine. I think an Edwards/Clark pairing is just what we need. Of all the candidates they seem to empathize more with me and others. Hillary would make a good president but the media will never leave her alone. And they will ride Obama like a thoroughbread until we are sick of hearing it. All good candidates but they will be swift-boated by the media. Just my two cents.

Gen. Shelton, who made unfounded attacks on Clark, pretty much ruined any chance of that pairing. Clark's son has had some choice words to say about that, as well.

And, besides, Clark has said he wouldn't run as anyone's Dick Cheney (meaning, he wouldn't run with someone who had no foreign policy experience like the Bush/Cheney pairing).

I like Edwards - he talks about issues that Democrats haven't talked about in decades.

I saw a documentary not long ago that had Humphrey's nominating speech in 1968, and it shocked me how far from traditional Democratic themes we've gotten since 1992.

First, look downthread @ my second response (post # 18) to this thread and notice the timestamp. When I posted this I had just heard from CNN that 2/3 of all Americans are working paycheck to paycheck.

From your posts in this thread I gather that you also like Edwards. Although my post was a bit of an exageration, I believe that Edwards could garner a corner of the republican vote. With Lou Dobbs leading more conservative voters to the examine issues of the shrinking middle class/working class I believe that less republican voters will be inclined to vote against their interest this time around. Edwards' platform is rich with addressing these issues. Meanwhile, Guiliani brings what to the table? He pisses of many of the republicans and stands for nothing other than to remind people that the was mayor of NYC at the time of 911.

So my question to you is this. Why is a possitive and hopeful post about Edwards such nonsense that you felt the need to join in someones else's hateful attack against me?
