Christmas carolers "silenced" for serenading skater Sasha Cohen (???)
OK is it me or does this sound like a Parlockian set-up?

Contact: Brad Dacus, President, Pacific Justice Institute, 916-857-6900

RIVERSIDE, Calif., Dec. 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Pacific Justice Institute has contacted the City of Riverside to ensure that longstanding Christmas traditions—and free speech—are protected after Christmas carolers were silenced in order not to offend a non-Christian celebrity making an appearance.

The Rubidoux High School Madrigals were singing Christmas carols at the Riverside Outdoor Skating Rink at an event featuring Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen. A city staff member, accompanied by a police officer, approached the carolers while they were singing "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" and asked them to stop. In order to avoid a scene, and due to the presence of the police officer, the choir director complied. According to the City's Development Director, the censoring city employee "was attempting to be sensitive to the celebrity guest, without considering the wider implications." Ms. Cohen is Jewish but apparently did not indicate that she was offended by the carolers.

Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, has contacted the City of Riverside to offer legal counsel and ensure that the City understands the absurdity of the employee's actions. "It is beyond ridiculous when carolers are silenced in order not to offend a celebrity," Dacus stated. "We cannot and will not allow this type of extreme political correctness and censorship to go unchallenged."

1. It's Cohen's fault, though.
She was clearly Being Jewish in a Public Place, which is tantamount to disturbing the peace.

Just watch: even though she wasn't involved in this in any way (save by her mere presence in the same city as the carolers), it will rapidly become another example of the heathen war on Christmas. Damn those Jews and their insistence on existing.

4. Good for you! I would imagine that the vast majority of Jewish people don't mind
the traditions of Christmas. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but where in the heck did this sudden (at least to me) sensitivity come from?

13. Before you blame the "PC police" did this even happen this way?
Or is this a trumped up incident that somebody wanted for the "War on Christmas PC Police train"?

19. my partner's cousins
do caroling at a local inn/restaurant. They are part of a choral group, 99% of the members are Jewish, the remaining 1% are not practicing christians. The group are asked to perform every year at this place, every weekend throught the holiday season and Christmas eve/day.

There are other groups in the area, but they won't perform on Christmas day except in their church.

5. If I were Sascha "Ice, Meet Ass" Cohen
I'd be so grateful that ANYBODY thought I was a celebrity, I'd settle for a choir singing Me So Horny!

7. "Ice, Meet Ass" Cohen

ROTFLMAO

I thought I was the only one that thinks she 'stinks' as a skater.
She got the silver because everybody's ass met the ice that night
and hers was the 'best'....

8. Well she does not "stink" as a skater.
She just can't seem to recognize that the idea is to show your skills off DURING a competition.

9. A question that needs to be asked.
Was Miss Cohen going to give a performance? It could have been as simple as that. She may have had her own music that she skates to.

If that was the case, it's just another trumped up case for the fundies.

18. Well, we must understand that only the religiously correct
are allowed to be "offended" and are entitled to "free speech." What if Cohen DID say she was offended? Isn't that exercising HER right to free speech?

Or are the "Christians" attempting to claim that only THEY have the right to be offended if someone tells them they are sick of listening to their own version of political correctness? Now why is it, exactly, that these people can run around and scream about being persecuted and offended but someone else is violating THEIR rights if they say they are offended? Does this mean I can get a group together to sing frat boy drinking songs outside a church during a meeting or service?
