If nothing else, Congress can name buildings (1/4 of bills this session)
When Congress adjourned last weekend, it may have failed to address the big issues facing the republic, but at least it made sure people mailing a letter in Farmington will know the name Hamilton H. Judson.

Who?

We'll get to him later, but for now, the important point is that while the 109th Congress set a record for fewest days spent in session, among the work it did accomplish was passing a resolution renaming the Farmington post office the Hamilton H. Judson Post Office.

In fact, of the 383 pieces of legislation signed into law during the 109th Congress, a fourth of them were bills naming buildings, particularly post offices. Aside from Farmington, the post office in Dennison — population 166 — is now officially known as the Albert H. Quie Post Office.

1. Oh, Thank Jeeeeesus!
I have always felt that Albert H. Quie had been grossly ignored by historians across the globe! And don't get me started on Hamilton H. Judson ...

3. Yeah, like they have that much compassion
Quei was a US Rep from Minnesota, and later Governor. Judson was a former postmaster.
