Workers Sue Over Racist 'Noose Joke'

December 16, 2006 -- A group of African-American cable-installation technicians are suing their employer and Cablevision, saying a white manager displayed a noose at their Long Island warehouse and joked about hanging some of them.

The installers claim the boss and a second white manager refused to remove the symbol of racist lynchings, despite numerous complaints.

The 11 men, employed in Farmingdale by 180 Connect, a subcontractor of Cablevision, say they are discriminated against on the job and the noose was the last straw.

Worker James Jackson Jr. said he spotted the 10-foot hangman's noose on Dec. 7.

a supervisor make a hanging jesture to an african-american worker in front of about 10 other workers and they all laughed about it.
