New Rethug Talking Point, calling Liberals "Secular Progressives"
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 10:31 AM by stop the bleeding
Stephanie Miller has highlighted this comment from a couple of Faux news programs from yesterday. She also just had a caller say the same thing that this seems to be a new term to make us look even worse.

I guess people figured out that Liberal is not a bad word - see founding fathers for reference, but "Secular Progressives" sounds more like hey they are not on our side ect..

What is everyone's take on this?

1. Don't let them make it a bad word.

6. Better than a 'Regressive Rapturist'
To be more accurate. Sounds like they are flirting with the idea of turning the word "progressive" into a dirty demon, like they did with "liberal," in all of their parroted gas.

2. Most liberals are people of faith
Of course, the Rethuglycans define "secular" to mean, "Anyone who does not wholeheartedly agree that we must be governed exclusively by extremely conservative, rigidly literal and fanatically held Christian beliefs, as taught by MY church, not yours."

The goal is to associate religion with themselves, and only themselves.

14. I think Jesus would want them to just do their jobs and govern better
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 11:09 AM by Strawman
Imagine if someone at your work who sucked at their job tried to distract attention from their poor performance everytime he or she screwed up by attacking the religious affiliation of their competent colleagues. That sure wouldn't fly pretty much anywhere. It's completely absurd and anyone in their right mind would think that person was taking them for a complete idiot.
