Beware all leaders whose first impulse is for war... |
|
Not only those in charge but those that would follow the war-mongers. Their judgement is one of destruction, first and foremost. To change their mind after the killing, is of little import. To suggest that they were lied to is to discount the possibility of being lied to in the initial formulation for war. It is not a quality we should look for in the Democratic Party, in my humble opinion.

1. Well said. It becomes a matter of judgement. And responsibility. |
|
Do we now think Powell is absolved of his responsibility in starting this war? Would we vote for him - as ...anything? Same goes for people who not only voted for IWR, but co-sponsored it as well. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=2934244

4. How did Edwards vote on the Iraq invasion? |
|
And I know Feingold hasn't thrown his hat into the ring but how did he vote?
I will vote for Hillary, if she gets the nomination but, based on her positions regarding the war, she will not get my primary vote.
The one point that I keep coming back to, time after time, is that, if I knew the reasons for invading Iraq were fraudulent, U.S. senators, with access to far more information than I ever had, knew it, too. And that means that the senators who were in favor of invading Iraq voted to shed American blood for some very bad reasons.

5. Wesley Clark on the "War on Terror" |
|
"The solution to terrorism is not going to be found in bullets," Clark said. "It's not going to be found in precision ordnance or targeted strikes. It's really going to be found in changing the conditions. It's going to be found in establishing a global safety net that starts with security and goes to economic development and political development and the kinds of modernization which let others enjoy the fruits of modernization that we as Americans enjoy."
~ Gen. Wesley Clark, October 17, 2001, Annual Lecture sponsored by the Center for the Study of Force and Diplomacy at Temple University

7. Particularly those that were able to control that impulse |
|
until they were beyond draft or even enlistment age as so many of those in government are.
