One last "surge" for a legacy... |
|
George W Bush wanted a war. It was the one thing that would guarantee him "greatness", he thought. In fact, he had stated as much previous to the election of 2000. He is a warmonger at heart. However, his war was not of necessity, it was a war of choice. There can only be one legacy for such a decision.
Now, he wants to put 30,000 more troops in harms way to try and secure himself a "legacy". His whole presidency is a failure but he believes if he can win his war in Iraq, somehow history will reflect upon him more favorably?
How many of those 30,000 will die for George W Bush's legacy? 100? 500? 1000? Is there any way that the American military can secure a city of over 10 million people with the area of Baghdad? The legacy appears to be of a man who found himself in a hole and kept right on digging...

1. "surge" is what my lunch is doing in my throat |
|
Let's break the death of thousands into little phrases like "shock and awe", "surge" and "double-down". When are the trading cards coming out? Are there action figures too?

passes for his brain. He has already established his legacy and nothing is going to change the fact that he will go down in history as the worst and most criminal, unelected fraud of a president in the history of the USA.

7. Nobody in the military should be willing to die for it |

Anybody who objects ought to get full support, even if it's illegal.
I think we need some sort of military opt out - even if you are in the military you get to be the one to choose when you're going into a war - in the old days it was reasonable to expect that one who signed up for the military in peacetime knew they might have to go into combat to defend the nation. But now that we know that crazies who want a legacy for themselves will start unnecessary wars, that is not a reasonable thing. This could work to prevent unnecessary wars, because there will only be enough people to go when it is a real threat to our existence (a thing that probably won't happen, too).
