In the meantime, in Scandinavia (PIC heavy)
Riots in Copenhagen, Denmark, becuse the Copenhagen city council has sold the autonomous youth house Ungeren to a Christian organization, Faderhuset, who wants them out.

More than 300 people, most of them youth, was arrested during protests during the weekend.

This is part of a battle that has been going on for several years, and since 2003 the Danish police and authorities has tried to stamp out free Christiania, the self run city within Copenhagen founded in 1971.

"The drug trade in Christiania has been a source of constant outrage for many Danish politicians and the current right-wing government is taking a number of steps to ensure that Danish law is respected in Christiania. The first step in this process was a police crackdown on the drug trade. Both politicians and police have declared that the drug trade will not be allowed to return. The second (and currently ongoing) phase is the registration of all buildings in Christiania. The third step will be the demolition of a number of shacks, constructed in a nature-preserved area (the historic naval fortress of Copenhagen)."

The Ungeren house has been free and self controlled since 1982, when the city gave them permission to use the house.
It's sister house in Norway is called Blitz, and has also been around since 1982. It is in the same building as Edvard Much used to live during his early years, and has been a gravity point for the punk-movement and the red feminists. It has a vegetarian café and also a feminist radio station called RadiOrakel. More than 40 percent of Norwegians supported Blitz up and until 2003, I haven't seen any later polls.

The Blitz are strongly anti-nazism, and spend a lot of time fighting the Scandinavian nazis. It is a mix of liberal extremism that fits very well into the Norwegian way. The Blitz was tackled by Christians themselves prior to the Iraqi invasion in 2003, when the Christian-conservative coalition that runs Oslo tried to sell their house, and subsequently had other things to think about than anti-war demonstrations during May 2003, when Norway entered the coalition.

These current photos shows the Danish cosulat in Bergen 'defiled' by Norw. Ungeren-sypatizers.

3. I heard about the Christiana district in Copehagen from
some Danish immigrants I once knew. It's quite a wild place from what I understand.

9. These places may seem wild, it's in their nature
But when you get to know people from there, you notice they have a consience and a heart beating for the weak and opressed.

Here's some pictures:

Heroin.Speed.Coke.Ecstasy or equal
- use violence
- posess weapons
- carry .. I don't know what it says here
If you do, you will be expelled.

The Christianites are peaceful and mostly want to live by their own rules

10. It is a bit tense, but a 'cease fire' would be the current status
I guess. This is part of govt. strategy, and there has been unrest for some time now.

Here's from November in Rødovre:

6. From Wikipedia:

Christiania's Mission Statement: "The objective of Christiania is to create a self-governing society whereby each and every individual holds themselves responsible over the wellbeing of the entire community. Our society is to be economically self-sustaining and, as such, our aspiration is to be steadfast in our conviction that psychological and physical destitution can be averted."

7. Ah, they have their name from the Danish king Christian

Not Christian as in 'Christianity' ;-)
The Norw. capital Oslo also was named after him until 1925. And the cities Kristiansand and Kristiansund.

14. Why can't we do something like this in the US?
Start a "Christiania" or something similar? A sovereign district or city within US territory?
