Mind you, it doesn't necessarily have to be a DUer but someone who DUers feel has made an impact on 2006.

Who would you nominate and why?

1. Al Gore....
Edited on Mon Dec-18-06 09:08 AM by Junkdrawer
He pretty much single handedly changed the public discussion of Global Warming.

2. Besides Skinner?
I would nominate H2O Man because of his well-written, well-researched and always informative posts on the Plame investigation and constitutional matters in general.

3. Howard Dean.
I didn't buy into his 50 state strategy to begin with, although I did fully support him anyway. He was very, very right in the end.

6. mark foley
Seriously, he had a huge impact on the election, which was largely about the war and it's failure, but he did have an impact, and it's still being felt.

Whatever happened to that guy anyways?

22. Good pick.
I chose DeLay and Abramoff for the same reason (see post 20). Foley was certainly important in keeping the corruption of the GOP on the front page at a critical time.

7. George Bush
To date in 2006:

- 814 American Service personnel have died in Irag
- 5676 American Service personnel have been wounded in Iraq

He continues to make an impact. And continues to be supported by "conservatives."

16. I think that Indian-American guy who was part of the 'Macaca' incident
Seriously, that was the turning point in the George Allen downfall and probably what gave us the majority.

Runner-up would be Rush Limbaugh. I think if he didn't make fun of Michael J. Fox's Parkison shaking from that commericial he made for Claire McCaskill, we'd might have a republican majority

Edited on Mon Dec-18-06 08:41 PM by KamaAina
:spank: but it turns out there isn't one: it was always corporate from the git-go.

Similarly, Liam Gallagher... but seriously, folks:

* The Army and other military medics, without whose advances in battlefield medicine the death toll from Operation Feckless Quagmire would be anywhere from four to eight times what it already is, i.e. about time for another black granite wall. :(

* Everyone actively rebuilding and resettling New Orleans and the Mississippi coast, including but not limited to our fellow DUers funkybutt, Swamp Rat, merh (where y'at, chere?), markus (now mostly blogging rather than DUing), and tens of thousands of others.

edit: for non-Lounge lizards, both Olive Garden and Oasis' Liam Gallagher have had a major impact on the Lounge in 2006, if nowhere else. :-)
