EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- Federal jurors have cleared an Alton man in a drug case after he convinced them his attention deficit disorder and use of crack cocaine before investigators quizzed him made his confession questionable.

Jurors acquitted 30-year-old Victor Wiley on Friday on a charge of possessing 35 grams of crack cocaine - a felony that could have gotten him a 30-year prison term if convicted.

Federal prosecutors "win about 98 percent of their cases. This is like the lamb slaughtering the butcher," Wiley's lawyer, John Stobbs of Alton, said. "The little guy won. This is a huge victory. This guy got exactly what he deserved, which was acquittal."
