Pelosi Targets Grassroots Freedom of Speech
Pelosi hates America just like GWB she just hides it better; it's covert contempt.

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=18510

“This bill would apply to those who have no Washington-based lobbyists, who provide no money or gifts to members of Congress, and who merely seek to speak, associate and petition the government,” it said. “Regulating the speech, publishing, association and petitioning rights of citizens is not targeted at corruption in Washington, as Public Citizen and its supporters would believe. Instead, it is targeted directly at the 1st-Amendment rights of citizens and their voluntary associations.”

FASCISTS GO HOME! AMERICA IS FOR FREE THINKING INDIVIDUALS!

2. Author of this article's credentials
Miss Carpenter is Assistant Editor for HUMAN EVENTS. She is the author of "The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy's Dossier on Hillary Rodham Clinton," published by Regnery (a HUMAN EVENTS sister company).

Are there any other sources on this? Sounds like it might be a RW smear job.

14. well, this post anyway
sorry. I didn't look closely at who owns humanevents.org

sadly it is Eagle Publishing Inc.
-Eagle Publishing is America's leading source of books and periodicals with a conservative, free-enterprise focus.

I think more restriction on the organizations is inefficient.

The market should decide which ideas win out.

The law should be changed to disallow the use of propaganda crafted in these 'charities' on the floor or for any argument concerning any legislation. what would the right wing nuts do without the script written for them by the heritage foundation (a 501c3 charity)?

Politics is all big business, whether you are on the 'small' business committee or not.

sorry for posting the spin job article. maybe someone can reply a better article on the topic?

10. Two loopholes
1) "The legislation would make changes to the legal definition of “grassroots lobbying” and require any organization that encourages 500 or more members of the general public to contact their elected representatives to file a report with detailed information about their organization to the government on a quarterly basis."

** Keyword bolded: organization. A private Citizen is not an organization. That is loophole #1.

2) "Under the bill, communications aimed at an organization’s members, employees, officers or shareholders would be exempt from the reporting requirement."

** Keyword bolded: members. Just be sure all communication goes to "Members", and you're also exempt. That is loophole #2.

Clearly, this does not affect an individual such as you or I having a website or blog or DU posting.

12. Public Citizen is an excellent
group. I would question the source that is interpreting this. It's conservative source and we know how much they can be believed!
