SO HERES THE DEAL
From now until Thursday night I will be accepting donations for those 3 DUers either via paypal or snail mail.
You can send your donation via paypal to [e-mail] If you would prefer to mail a check or money order, please PM me.

Whatever is collected will be split evenly three ways- making it totally fair to each one. I will post regular updates on how much has been raised. Expect at least 3-4 times a day, in this thread.

I'm really thrilled that Skinner is allowing us this chance to help our fellow DUers who are in great need right now.

26. I'm Both shocked And Speechless! But Thanks To Everyone!

Today was my monthly doctor's visit (which is 70 miles each way)
So I've been gone and offline all day.
I just got home, checked in and found this thread.
I really don't know what to say, except that my DU family
is absolutely the best family I've ever known.

Ill get my thoughts together a bit and post more later.
My blood pressure at the doctor's today was 165/70
so he changed my BP meds.
I checked it again at the drugstore and it was 175/74
so I immediately took one of the capsules.
After driving home I'm feeling not well right now,
kinda like a rapidly deflating balloon,
so I'm gonna lie down and rest a bit.

We got a few (2) donations and we were at $1402... but now one of the people that used donated
using a check on paypal bouned their check for $100.. so we are now at $1302.

I have covered all of the costs of each donation having a paypal fee (I wasn't subtracting the fee from the giving total- I figured it would cost me about $75. I also donated $100 to the fund) but, since I also gave $100 to Second Harvest I just
can't afford to throw more money in the pot right now.. (You know how it is.. christmas!!)

SO... RIGHT NOW we are at $1302. We need $198 to reach goal.

It's not a catastrophe- things are still good. I just so wanted us to reach this goal.

We're finally getting over our bad hump. Hubby started a new job and bills will be all caught up in less than a week. No Christmas here for anyone, but we're thankful for being able to keep a roof over our heads and food in the house.

We celebrated yesterday with a lovely feast and a fire in the fireplace and lots of candles lit to encourage the sun to return as in the old days. :)
We will join with our extended family to celebrate Christmas as they are mostly Christians. It makes the holiday season stretch a lovely long time.

my wife normally gets a sizable xmas bonus from her job that we rely on to catch up on bills and pay rent for January. It apparently isn't happening this year so we are well and truly screwed. Nice of them to give us some warning. Thank you again for this gift so much because now its going to be about simple survival.

I just saw this thread. I can't give tons but if it isn't too late I would like to contribute.

I lurked for almost two years before I joined. Since I have joined I have grown not just in knowledge but realizing that we ole liberals have the spirit of love and giving be it Christmas but in all year around. I never realized such a sense of family would be here. DU has inspired me and I thank you.
