Has anyone else pondered the question of why did the aspens turn? What happened that made the secretive underground roots turn on W? The media, the Judicial system (somewhat), and the key republics all seemed to turn together? What made them turn? And what is the next phase of the Aspen? Is it to remove W from office so Cheney will be at the helm? I noticed a news article stating Cheney was distancing himself from W. How far reaching are those Aspen roots? Will the ground quake worldwide when they move again?

“You went into jail in the summer. It is fall now. You will have stories to cover—Iraqi elections and suicide bombers, biological threats and the Iranian nuclear program. Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them. Come back to work—-and life. Until then, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. With admiration, Scooter Libby.”

This is completely conjecture, but I suspect that there were disputes related to intelligence gathering. When the CIA and others believe they will take the fall, in this case for bad Iraq intelligence, they fight back. And I suppose this is one of the reasons that the 9/11 recommendations were scuttled, and it seems that Pelosi also may soft-peddle some of them. Another aspect of this may be that as Bush expands wiretapping and other spying measures, I sense that some of this may be to gain an upperhand on some of his influencers (just as JFK did with unions). Its been said that 50% of the FBI and CIA's activities are to function as the President's secret police. There's a great line in the movie Nixon, where Nixon goes to meet some of the Texas billionaires that financed his campaign. After Nixon makes demands, one of the bigwigs says "Wait, are you threatening us?". And Nixon says "No. The President of the United States doesn't have to threaten." So my WAG is that the Aspen turning is related to the fact that Bush's power-play backfired.
