"Surge," my ass. Just another pretty word for the politicians to hide behind, signifying nothing
else than more dead Americans and Iraqis.

And for what? For nothing.

1. Today's "surge" is yesterday's "Stay the Course"
It is just more of the same with the emphasis on "more".

3. Surge Bush's fabricated war, we can't back away from Bush's blunder!
and now they're telling the sheeple the americans will look bad to the rest of the world unless we have victory in Bush's war for oil blunder.

As much as Bush wants the oil, that part of the world obviously is saying; no-way!

4. I seem to remember a lot of surges in Vietnam. They mostly served
to hold on until it became the next presidents problem.

9. They are just buying time and killing people
Let's face it, the military cannot legitimately train more than a few thousand combat-ready troops per year. This will just be a re-deployment of spent, stressed-out troops.

And the new Congress is going to ask for extensive funding requests (which will actually count against the Deficit - something that scares the shit out of the WH).

I think that this "surge" business is a trial balloon, trying to see how it is gonna play in Plano.

11. Tom,
Ain't nothing more powerful in life than an officer trying to get a promotion.

That is exactly what is going on here. This one isn't W - it is so far beyond that.

New congress-funding requests - what Lt CL thinks that far in advance??

This push has a finger print on it.

Joe

21. So would I.
But that isn't gonna happen.

They will kill those kids to get another strip - they are doing it.

And they will kill two kids to make sure they keep that strip, so to speak.

I used to read that there is nothing like a god as a general in battle - and that may be true.

But I know the bastards coming up to get promoted are a lot more scary.

This is happening Tom - I don't think that this can be stopped at this point.

Joe

19. Its a long standing NAVY term.
I've heard of many surges for ships. Its just a sudden rush deployment, without notice.
