Draft Gore 2008 & how you can make a real difference.
I believe there is at least a plurality and perhaps a majority of people on DU who would back Al Gore if he announced an exploratory committee. He was right about Iraq in 2002, when it wasn't popular. He has been passionately right about our growing climate crisis all along. He has never been beaten in a general election (i.e. undefeated heavyweight, 2000 SCOTUS notwithstanding). He is treated like a rock star wherever he goes. If you would like to see Gore win in 2008, this message is for you, because you have the power to make that happen.

The television age of politics (beginning circa 1960), is almost over. The Internet age of politics is just beginning (witness the Dean phenomenon in 2003). In other words, we are moving from an age when candidates decide to run and then win by raising the most money, to an age where THE PEOPLE decide who the candidate will be through grassroots organizing.

We have the ability to draft Al Gore (i.e. bring him into the race by popular acclaim). The vehicle for such action is meetup.com. That was the platform that brought Dean from obscurity to front-runner status. We can use it to bring Gore into the race.

Please contact me at steve@algore.org. I can help you get started on meetup.com without having to pay to establish a group. New groups were formed last weekend in Washington, D.C. and Kansas City, simply because somebody decided to step up. It's free and you will meet great people.

Also, I invite you to check out algore.org. We can make this happen. It is the right thing for our party, our nation and our planet.

Gore has said he won't rule out running. We can change his status to that of declared candidate if we organize and build sufficient numbers on meetup.com, he will get in the race. Perhaps he will get in anyway, but the way to make it certain is for us to act. That is why your effort is so vital: IF WE BUILD IT, HE WILL COME.

AlGore.org is a grassroots organization. The site and its PAC "The People, Not The Powerful 08" are not affiliated with or authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.

1. Kicking it for Gore
I'm willing to help convince Gore to run. I've signed up for the KC meetup and I see that I'm not the only DU'er who has done so. Thanks for doing this.

:hi:
