Rolling Stone isn't a magazine I'd normally be likely to subscribe to. But I get it as a freebie as a Premium subsciber to Salon.com. Since then, I've seen enough worthwhile stuff there, that I'll probably resubscribe. An EXCELLENT article to watch for when it finally goes on-line, is "THE $2 TRILLION WAR" (p.46).

I see that Ms. Sloan can take some credit for exposing Tom DeLay, Curt Weldon, and Mark Foley.

28. Actually, this past year they have been ruthless against the Bush regime

with great reporting on voter fraud, do-nothing congress and this horrible war. Hell they had Bush on the front cover as "The Worst President Ever".

I ended up subscribing - worth every penny PLUS I got the issue with Led Zeppelin on the cover

I was already somewhat "over the hill" when that magazine first hit the scene. And being of the "old left" in inclination, neither the life style nor the music held any great appeal to me. I've "mellowed out" considerably since then, and have become less judgemental towards those crazy kids. That still wasn't "my" sort of music, but just those articles you had mentioned are easily worth the price.

I was honored to attend my son's National Merit Scholars induction the other night. Most of the 40 or so inductees have been close friends and classmates of his, some going back to pre-shool. To a person, they are smart, intelligent, responsible and caring young people, who will not tolerate the kinds of fools who infest public life today. They are exceptional people and they will accomplish great things. I for one will have no problem in passing the torch to their generation.

Ava has been making anti-war videos. Some of these videos have garnered national attention. She has been interviewed by numerous media outlets (print, radio, and television) and always has articulated the progressive positions with a clarity and conviction even the most seasoned politicians lack.

Moreover, she has established credentials within the blogosphere that allows her creations to be disseminated widely. Her influence can be measured by the amount of negative reaction from the conservative elements in our society.

And she's done all this as a 16 year old. I'd say that is very unusual.
