Son: Dad back at work 'sooner rather than later' (Tim Johnson)
Edited on Tue Dec-19-06 11:14 AM by cal04
Physicians, family expect full recovery

The news media might spend time talking about successors to Sen. Tim Johnson, but a son of the South Dakota Democrat is confident his dad will go back to work.

"That's the easiest question for me to answer," said Brendan Johnson, the second-oldest child of Tim and Barbara Johnson. "From my conversations with the doctors and based on the progress he has been making, I feel very confident that he is going to be getting back to work sooner rather than later."

It was the first interview given by a Johnson family member since the senator was hospitalized Dec. 13 with stroke-like symptoms followed by brain surgery at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington.

(snip)
"It is also knowing my father and the idea to him of missing a single day of work - let alone weeks of work - is going to be very difficult for him to swallow," he said. "Like many other people in South Dakota, as soon as he can be back, he will be."

2. What incredibly sad news
for "Christian Conservatives" throughout the country who were no doubt hoping the Senator would die soon and suffer while dying. They just can't stand the thought of a democratic majority in the house and the senate investigating and uncovering the fact that their hero is a criminal, liar, crook. They are a pathetic lot who take every advantage of their constitutional liberties while at the same time working to destroy the document.

My hate is rational.

7. Laura Inghram is going to ridicule him mercilessly for this
Edited on Tue Dec-19-06 12:58 PM by ComerPerro
I remember one time I randomly caught her radio show (which airs on the RW talk radio station at literally one am) and she was playing clips of, I think it was Wes Clark's son.

And she was laughing at it. Why? Because she just had to crack up every time he refered to his father as "Dad". Apparently it was the funniest thing in the world to her.

For example, he would say, "Well, that's the thing about Dad, he has always...". and she and her studio cronies would just crack up...

I didn't really get it was so funny. But that's probably because I am not a hatemongering, mal-adjusted RW media whore.

Son: Johnson's recovery 'exceeding expectations'
POSTED: 5:56 p.m. EST, December 19, 2006

WASHINGTON (AP) -- South Dakota Sen. Tim Johnson has been exceeding expectations in his recovery from emergency brain surgery last week, his son Brendan said Tuesday.

Brendan Johnson, a Sioux Falls lawyer, said in an interview with The Associated Press that his father has been responding repeatedly to directions from his mother, Barbara. But he is not yet speaking.

"It's fair to say he's been exceeding expectations up to this point," Brendan Johnson said. "All the tests and the indications now are positive." (Watch CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta explain how the senator fell ill )

Johnson offered few details about his father's condition and said he doesn't know what kind of tests he will undergo this week. He said he is not sure if the senator will need additional surgery.

He said he left Washington this weekend for a brief trip back to Sioux Falls but he will be back to celebrate his father's birthday next week. The senator turns 60 on December 28, and he is expected to still be in the hospital.
