1. I agree
or to be able to blanket ignore any thread title with candidate names in it.

2. I agree. They are making me tired of our own candidates, and
the election is still almost two years away. I'm sick of all the puff posts.

Enough, already!

Whoever our nominees are, they are going to have to win their spurs over the next two years.

3. the two main problems with all these threads
1. they make us tired of the candidates.

2. they distract us from what should be the urgent agenda of the congressional Democrats.

5. I've never understood #2
I can see your point on #1, but not #2. How is a thread on 2008 distracting you from the "urgent agenda of the congressional democrats". If you don't like 2008 threads don't read them or better yet, hide them. Next, we are a message board, a forum and any subjects can be discussed. I don't see how anybody on this board is distracting from the "urgent agenda of the congressional democrats" any more than people said during the election that talk of '08 is distracting us from the 2006 elections. It looks like we did just fine in that election--even though some of us discussed 2008.

6. I didn't say you can't or shouldn't talk about 2008
go for it. You can talk about 2012 and 2016 or 2080 if you want.

I'd just like to get the dozen 2008 threads off the 1st page of GD and GD-P so some of us can discuss things that are relevant now.

I hope the candidates who are in Congress are not as focused on 2008 as they are on the work at hand.
